Location: big island | just rec'd an email from jim at "slip-grip". he is soliciting comments from those who have ever purchased his product because he says he has a meeting with the ovation company on july 23 for a possible joint venture.
i told him he's gotta figure out how to keep 'em on the guitar first. |

I have always assumed it was factory and that they put it there for a reason. But, maybe it's aftermarket (although it looks to be 'under' the bowl paint).
That being said, the 1681, deep bowl and all, doesn't seem to have any problems staying put. A solution looking for a problem? |

Location: Detroit Rock City | I ordered a slip grip and put it on my deep bowl ovation celebrity guitar, and it was wonderful for about 3 weeks. Then it fell off. I emailed him back, and he sent me a free replacement, no questions asked. Can't complain about that! I haven't put it on yet though. I've been thinking of putting some stronger adhesive on it, but don't quite have the guts. My guitar isn't worth anything, but I like to be able to get it to "stock" if I decide I don't like the slipgrip anymore. |

BECAUSE I BELIEVED A MYTH!!
None of my other guitars has a Slip Grip. Slippage has never been a real problem!

| I put a slip-grip on my 1767. It sticks fine. I've played the 1767 alot, so the texture on the slip-grip is slowly wearing off, but other than that is works well. But, I still don't think Ovation could seriosuly consider using it on their new guitars. (Didn't they try something like that years ago?) It would be better to incorporate a more agressive texture on the waist of the bowl. |

Location: Detroit Rock City | Has anyone tried any other solutions for preventing the "bowl roll" off your lap? The slip grip is fine, but it does peel off and wear out eventually. I was thinking of some kind of rubber or tape product. Not sure if it exists. I don't want to destroy my nice guitar, but a better solution may be out there. (Besides wearing a strap of course) |
