I saw one in person and it actually looked kinda cool. The one I was was more grey-ish spots than tan. I think it's just a laminated top ultra, nothing special.

his id is BirdsEye maple. Said VERY hard and brittle. Hrd to work with.

This is a laminated sitka spruce top as Dave said, it was available in the early 90's on Ultra models and the color number is 5-M (Birdseye).
Not the nicest finish ever made... :rolleyes:
