Here's the Wood Topped Adamas 12-String proto from the roadshow.

- spruce top tinted puppy-poo color
- flush inlaid wood epi
- brown fiberglass contour bowl w/ no hatch door
- OP PRO Studio
- carved walnut bridge
- maple, walnut, ebony heel cap
- maple, walnut, ebony peghead facing
- inlaid wood adamas logo
- 5 piece neck with smooth volute
- scalloped binding with double white trim
- adamas kerfing
- schaller tuners
- no serial number, no label

The usual suspects got to play this at the fall OFC gathering. It's still a little "tight" but will open up over time. Fit, finish, setup etc is all spot on. Sounds and plays exceptionally well.

Thanks to Lost Art Vintage Instruments for making this possible

Wow!

Is this going to be a production offering?

I'm not sure there is any such thing as a "production offering" anymore. They list the 6 string Wood Top in the catalog and a few dealers are advertising them, but I have not seen anything about the 12-string version. But certainly they can (would) build one for anyone interested, as far as I know.

- brown fiberglass contour bowl w/ no hatch door
Is that "no hatch door" part true of all the new (or even old) fiberglass bowls?

It sure looks nice, I can almost feel the thunder of those 12 strings in my gut just lookin' at it. (but it might be what I had for lunch…) ;)

I think the rear hatch went out once they started using the kidney-shaped pre-amp cans. The side hole allows access into the guitar by removin the can (as long as you have skinny hands and forearms).

Recent LX Elites still had the trap-door…

Congratulations, really nice guitar! I have not played a 12 strng Ovation yet. The sound of this one should be unique.

Very nice!

Best regards,

Only the roundholes. The Elite/Adamas style contours have the hatch. Dave has the only two non-hatch I've seen.

The last time I happened to be with Dave and Cliff, Dave played an outstanding version of Kashmir on this 12 string while Cliff did a spot on vocal performance that Plant wishes he could duplicate live.

It will be a sonic beast once it opens up a bit more.

Anybody that is looking for an outstanding woodtop 12 string should contact Al and check out the details.

Well, I just checked to be absolutely certain: My 2080 definitely has a hatch, so I guess we're all right… or wrong… depending on how you look at it… ;)

Do the OFCIIs have hatches?

I wonder if the new fiberglass bowls will have access panels… I've often pondered how much (or little) those foam-padded manhole covers affected the sound…

Actually, what I wonder is what a 12 string 12 fretter would sound like with this basic configuration. Could be an absolute canon.....
