That guy is selling a lot of nice guitars. I've been watching. On the first UKII you mentioned, I don't care for that style of fret markers.

The old Bow Ties! They were plastic and more expensive than the abalone that replaced it!

I'm watching it along with about 5 others. Too many to choose from...what's the consensus: viper or UKII, Bowties or Abalone. all I need is for someone to throw up a Deacon and a Thunderhead and I REALLY won't know which way to turn!

Yeah there are sure a lot of them up there this week. I've been watching and emailing. You gatta' take a very close look though. There are some good ones and some problem ones also. take a very close look at the fretboards.

Fretboards can be fixed if needed. Make sure the pickups work and are original.

2stix, the UKII is the one, no comparison. I think the abalone looks nicer that the bow ties, but I guess that's a personal taste thing, and really so is the UKII vs Viper.

I think you'll find that the general consensus is the UK II was the best solidbody they ever did.

I'm biased though. BTW, I see you have a Preacher. That was my first, but I traded up a couple months later. The UK II is 50x the guitar that Preacher was.

The Tornado was my first Ovation and the one I keep going back to. I seem to prefer the feel of the semi-hollow bodies over the solids but as a scholar once said, "You can never have enough guitars."

I have never actually seen or held a viper or a UKII, but then again, the same holds true for my Tornado and my Preacher. As for the Preacher, I really wanted a Deluxe but kept missing out and kinda bought this one on the "Bay" by accident. There weren't any bids on it so I threw one out there and won. Sometimes you get lucky.

Don't get me wrong, I loved that Preacher. I still have a Polaroid somewhere of it. I just couldn't resist the UKII and I was too young and broke to be able to buy a second guitar at the time.

I highly doubt you would be disappointed if you could get your hands on one.

Well, one of the ones I was watching just went to Keith so my immediate options are disappearing, but I will keep up the search.

Yes Miles, I'm watching yours too, but it appears to be a little too far on the exclusive side for my budget. Believe me, if it was, you would have heard from me already! What a gorgeous guitar.....someday.

Besides, something that nice really needs to be with someone who really knows how to use it. There's gotta be somebody here that can give this a proper home.

With all the new ones on the sales block it makes for a tough decision. I missed out on the one I was interested in earlier, with the lightr maple body that matched the maple neck. I AM a bit picky on what I want, so the way I'm looking at is is to snag a good deal and convert it to what I want. I really like the things Woody was done, and it has motivated me to go for it

I'm not too sure what you could do to a UK II to make it better. How do you make perfect better?

Now chop up all the Vipers ya want, but not the UK II. NO! YOU MAY NOT HAVE ONE NOW! :D
