It's a 31 year old 1st year issue one owner classic that could use a little tlc...beauty is in the eye of the beholder and IMHO it's very nice...and worth 3X what the opening bid is...everyday and twice on the weekend...

I own a reissue and also an original adamas slothead. Sonically they are similar but not identical. Athestically the reissue is perfect. But the original is just "right" for reasons I can't really describe. Some call it 30 years of aquired mojo. All things being equal I would buy the original 10 times out of 10. However, there is some downside risk. The following "could" be potential issues: - chipped paint on top - worn paint on bowl - noisy or non working electronics - neck angle set - worn frets - worn fretboard - sticky grimy tuners - dried out braces and adhesive - worn saddle grooves - case handle and latches worn

The following "could" be potential issues: Every one of these potential problems can be fixed by a short trip and stay at the SPA: the Mothership: I.E. The Factory to the newcomers. - chipped paint on top - worn paint on bowl - noisy or non working electronics - neck angle set - worn frets - worn fretboard - sticky grimy tuners - dried out braces and adhesive - worn saddle grooves - case handle and latches worn By the way, did I mention the Mojo? :D

I'd hate to buy one of these old treasures and have to modify it at all. So for me I guess I found I had to go with the "new" market and not the classic. If I was only interested in the acoustics and wanted a nice old classic w/mojo to hang around my neck for a jam, this would be the way to go every time! If your this guy.........Buy it. Great guitars and there are variations in sound from the old to the new. I know.... I have owned both. Acoustically I liked the older ones. Randy
