Now I think another problem has surfaced. My ring finger has developed quite the "club" tip. I don't have the sensitivity to really feel whats happening on chords like D/Dm/D7 etc. Seems like the callous is TOO big now, flatening out and touching/muting surrounding strings. Its also very hard and slick so it doesn't grab the string that well anymore. So when they get this big, do you just sand it off and start over? Whats the solution? I do enjoy the lack of pain now, but not at the expense of playability. Whats your thoughts on this?

This softens 'em enough that you can get a good purchase on the strings. I usually do this 2-3 hours before a gig - not to exceed twice a week. Important - don't overdo the file. I use one of those that has multiple surfaces so that you can end up with our calluses smooth enough that not only do they not catch on the strings, but they slide easily with (somewhat) reduced squeak.

When I get them nails just right; I can fly, when I don't; I miss or they get caught. I don't give a Dam who see's the emery boards or the clippers. They make a difference. Now to explain the lipstick and the women's dresses!!!!!

They don't break or chip and a set will last you a month or so. The place I go will do the three fingers and thumb for $10.00. Use your clippers for your fingering hand. So... let's see, in my gig bag you'll find clippers, lotion, multi-surface file and a receipt to the nail salon. hmmm...
