Hi gang,

I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I just found this site, and had to join. I have a 1979 1657-7 Anniversay Legend that I bought around 1985 from Guitar Center for $300. I have been playing for 40 years and it is by far the nicest guitar I have played. My wife wanted to buy me a Taylor a few months ago, so I test drove a few of them at a local guitar shop here in San Diego. None of the ones I played made me want to give up my Ovation. (I'll still let her buy me a Taylor if she insists. :) )

Happy holidays all!

Thanks Lanaki! No clue about the member number. Some things are best unknown I guess. Most of the vintage guitars listed were my everyday players at one time or another during my youth, except for the Teisco which I got at a swap meet back in the 90's for $40, and the Kay which was rescued from a dumpster in El Centro, CA about 20 years ago.

Cheers!

Sounds plausible. I don't remember joining back then. That's embarrassing.

Looks a registration, never posted and went away. Crucifer, your name looks like it is a cross, between spanish for cross, and lucifer aka Satan. Are you going for some religious thing?

lol Nope. My real name is Christopher. Crucifer is just that named drunkenly slurred. Plus it doubles as a stage name if I ever join a Death Metal band.

crucifer,
since you've been playing for 40 years, there's probably not much chance of you joining a death metal band. if you do, please don't play your Ovation on stage!

Welcome It looks lke your name is a cross between Christ and Lucifer.

I noted that you have a 03 Esteban. That must be an early modle.

Tried any Ovation solidbodies?

The date on the Esteban is approximate. I haven't researched it yet. It was made by Burswood. I bought it from my father-in-law. I don't want to know where he got it... It has a remarkably good full sound. The playabilty is eecchh! and it feels like it will fall apart at any time.

Never tried a solid body O. Am I missing out?

...I've got an '04 Viper that's "called" a solid-body but is really a chambered semi-hollow, although the strings actually go "through" the body just like on a Telecaster!

...and (obviously) my 'other' guitar is a Tele.

Cruster, probably Chaos, Ambiguity, & Perversity. So much for rose-colored glasses, anyway.
The refuge & release found in music is comforting, however. Play more, bitch less.
Happy Holidays, Dadgummit!

And it seems that some Members are better at writing down their passwords and keeping them for 4 years!

Good job!
