Location: arkansas | hello folks. newbe to the board. i have been searching the web for about a month now for a good used nylon string with a nut width of at least 1&7/8. My finger tips seem to be too fat for the 1&11/16. could any of you good folks offer any help as to what models to look for? thanks!! |

Welcome to the board.
A lot depends on the price range you want to stay in but Ovations and Takamine nylon string guitars offer a lot of bang for the buck.

I am thinking along the $400 to $500 or less range. I am on a limited budget [aren't we all].
Where I live I just don't see any Ovations but from I have been able to find out from the net and word of mouth, I believe an Ovation is what I am interested in. I just started playing guitar around a year ago after I retired [hope I didn't wait to long to start]. Better late than never, the way I look at it. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | You just missed a nice 1763 from Tony Calman, but if you don't need a cutaway, you might look for a 1713 or 1613. They have flat 2 inch necks with deep bowls. If you want a 14 fret neck that's a little narrower and isn't flat, look for a Country Artist. It has a shallower bowl and doesn't have as deep a sound, but it's a pretty good guitar for a bunch of different sounds. |

Location: East Tennessee | Go with the Country Artist if you want a 1 7/8" neck. The folklore also has a 1 7/8" neck if you like steel strings. They come up occasionally on this site and eBay. |

Location: arkansas | Thanks, this is the kind of info I was needing as I'm not familiar with this guitar. I have owned a Blueridge BR60 for about a year now and after a few improvements it has a better sound. Only I have found that my finger tips are just to fat for this width of neck. Anyway, I have the "bug" for another guitar, one that I could plug in would be even better :) |

Then I was gonna direct you to Jeff W to inquire about his Tak Hirade TH90....an incredible guitar that retails for close to 3 grand that I think Jeff was willing to part with for less than 1/3 of that amount.
Oh well....the other suggestions are also spot on. |

They put an ugly knob on but that should be easy to fix. I'd like to see more pictures of the top, ask about cracks, and find out if the bridge is solid and the top level around the bridge.
I have one of these and it doesn't have a great acoustic tone but is good amplified. I think that the shorter scale and mid bowl might subtract from the acoustic sound. Very easy to play if your fingers are feeble.

Jeff told me a while back it's a great guitar but he just never plays it and I am sure the offering was less than a grand.

Location: Bay Area, CA | Hi, I have a Country Artist 1624 in excellent condition. Top is in really nice shape, without the usual cracks, excellent tone, electronics work great. Pencil eraser sized capo ding on the back of the neck. Original hard shell case, very nice interior, banged up exterior, but does the job, and all latches work fine. Metal foil label inside.
