Case is "Geib" style deluxe wooden case with green interior.
 
Features identical to HD-28V are - diamond and square inlays, vintage belly ebony bridge, and bone saddle. Made from solid East Indian rosewood with a solid Sitka spruce top, it also features a solid black ebony fingerboard, and herringbone inlays around the rosette.
 
This guitar is in near mint/excellent +++ and is both an amazing player and terrific sounding guitar. The Martin classic sound but the tone is even throughout without the typical muddy bottom end that many HD28s seem to have.
This one is a players pure aural and visual delight.

I played one of these about a year ago. WOW!!! Very nice, warm and woody. Were it not for the ever present lack of funds, I be on this like white on rice!
Must be something exceptional coming for you to throw this into the out stream.

We're gonna start calling you Trader Stephan, if you don't slow down! :) :) Call it spring cleaning....lots of stuff gonna be moving out the door over the next few weeks/months that I have put off listing due to laziness or lack of desire to actually sell. Guitars, amps, effects, recording equipment, mics, magazines, etc.
Of course I will regret it (until the check clears :rolleyes: ) but it just doesn't get played because I have a Collings DS2 which is also a 12 fret slothead dread and even though they are very very close, I simply prefer the slightly brighter sound of the Collings.....I know..i know....how funny coming from a baritone freak!
but as I have mentioned, if you are looking for that Martin sound without the traditional bass muddiness that HD28's typically have (IMHO) this one is a killer. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Stephen has been a trader for as long as I've been here. It seems that several of the top Ovation collectors 3 years ago are shifting their focus. I know that has some link to that saying about not wanting to be a member of any club that would have me.
I'm still a roundback purist, except for the 2 electrics. |

I am still a major Adamas fan and my twin 2080D's will blow just about every other guitar I own out of the water (but remember that they are truly freaks of nature and any others built may not sound as good).
The all wood guitars have a more traditional sound and while I still have a couple Martins and a Taylor DDSM, the Collings sound, looks, and build have totally blown me away and won me over.
Having said that, the Adamas sound is both different and special but it does not sound like an all wood guitar.....probably one of the reasons that I don't own many Ovations anymore but still own (and plan to keep) quite a few of the Adamii!
The sounds of the evil resonators are softly calling my name but so far I have been able to drown them out by beating loudly on the cajon! |

I'm an Ovation fan, but also a Fender fan and an electric nut. For example, my current inventory is 76% electric only (solids, archtops, etc.) and 24% acoustic/electric (all of which are Kaman products). I'm what I would call a "guitar enthusiast." Perhaps some folks are increasingly more willing to share their views, values and perceptions on top flight guitar products available on the market today. I think it would be relatively nearsighted of us to talk up and cheer for Ovation without introducing other brands as a point of reference. Chrysler and the other U.S. automotive manufacturers ignored the foreign competition until it was almost too late. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Even though I've owned and Ovation for 30 years, I'm still a newbie at this game. When I reacquainted myself with guitars, it was because of the happenstance of toying with a new computer and googling Ovation. That led to this forum and the sudden realization that there were many excellent Ovation guitar models that I didn't know about. It took awhile to catch up and the latest and greatest Ovations or Adamas guitars were evolving at the same time, so I couldn't catch up. Some of the regulars then are still regulars now and they were a bit further along than I am. I don't know if its an evolution of the collectors or the guitars, but it is interesting to note that people are moving in different directions.
Same thing has happened to many of my Porsche friends. Some move on, some stay with the same brand and some still have their first Porsche. I tend to stay with the same car and the same brand for quite awhile, no matter what it is. Others are like Trader Jim, except it is much more expensive to buy cars often. |

The OFC and the TakamineForum have often been an influence in some of our purchases. Sometimes (such as the FD-14), the OFC has developed the market. Now the hot item is Collins. Unlike some of the other forums, discussion of other "brands" is not discouraged. Whereas other sites have members that become abusive and rude when talking about an Adamas or Ovation, members here have always had other makes and types (from a Les Paul to a Martin).
I bought my Martin D-25K2 28 years ago. In 1991, I sold four of my guitars, keeping only the Martin. Eventually, many Ovations and Adamas, a Martin D-18 12-str, a Tak 12-string and the Martin D-15 slothead - all three sold or traded. Couple of months ago - a Tak Classical, a month ago - the Tak Nashville 360SC, now the D-28VS.
As Member #7 has often said, different flavors. What we are seeing is a strong compliment to the members of the OFC...we appreciate a great instrument, whatever the logo on the headstock, as well as celibrate and appreciate the enthusiasm of the owner.
Still, the two guitars, other than the 12-strings, that I consistently play are the 47RI and the 30th Anniv Custom Legend. Others get played but will probably never need a refret. As to a 12-string, I will only have Adamas or Custom Legend. |

| Tony, congratulations on a really wonderful guitar. I have owned many Martin's over the years, as well as Santa Cruz, and others. I just sold a Vintage Artist, and have a Martin HD-28VR on the way. I also own my share of Ovation's, and love the older Legend Models, especially. Enjoy the guitar, and let us know all about it, please.
