The OFC guitar and the Koa are wonderful, but the sound doesn't thrill me. I seem to get the most buzz out of playing the traditional Ovations with the spruce tops. I've got 5 of those now that really have the Ovation sound I fell in love with 30 years ago.

(try it, it's lovely). Perhaps my initial statement was a little over reactive but I do LUV the 1680.

It wore off on my 99 Collector's, but someone else liked it better than the rest of my collection, so I sold it to him. That was hard for me. I don't know that I'll do it again. I haven't really found one I didn't like.

I only had the 99 for just shy of 3 years, so that isn't really that long for me. And I didn't sell it and buy it back during that time.

So that lends itself to a lot of "churn and burn". Try this, try that, sell it, buy it, repeat as necessary. Trader Jim and some others are great examples of that, and I mean that in a complimentary way. Other types of instruments at other price points don't lend themselves as well to that kind of rotation. Just an observation.

Thank you Dave, uh Toby. That is exactly my madness. I've gotten to try out most of the line and found a few that I would consider giving a permanent home to. It's been fun, and I've managed to make my wife come to expect it along the way. Win win situation, the way I see it. :D

Some people trade cars every couple years, others keepp one forever. Different strokes. I tend to become way too attached to my material posessions. I realize I have that form of madness, so I try to make sure I'm going to like it before I buy it. Sometimes that causes me to miss out on something I could have really enjoyed.

I now have two very nice Ovations (JW reissue and Balladeer reissue) two nice Adamas (1680 and 1681) two nice Martins (CEO-5 and 000 17S) and a very nice Tacoma all Koa along with a Yamaha silent string and a Blueridge OM. I may have reached my nirvana. Now, what you guys going to do for entertainment if I stop selling and buying? You're going to have to start picking on Beal. :D
