Location: NW NJ | No difference in sound to speak of plugged in, but I love the deep bowls in either form because they generally have a bigger, deeper sound acoustically. For me, the coutour helps keep the guitar from rolling top up when you are playing standing with a strap. Of course, in my case both the guitars and the player have competing bellies :D |

I'm no help whatsoever - I like all of them. I don't have the beer belly per se at this time, but do like how the contour feels on my 12-string.
I have to say though, one of the best "bang for the buck" guitars I've ever played was a mid-bowl EliteT with the black finish. It was a real powerhouse. Doesn't compete with the 1718 or 1537 deep non-cutaway for overall tone and volume, but still a great-sounding acoustic guitar in and of itself.
I'd say go with what feels/sounds better to you, but if you still can't decide, go with the contour. |

Location: SoCal | For most wood topped Ovations, a deep bowl is preferable to a mid or super shallow bowl guitar, based on tone. And when I say deep bowl, I'm including a contour bowl. A mid depth bowl is a compromise on sound vs. comfort vs. feedback. A super shallow bowl doesn't concern itself with acoustic sound, just comfort and feedback.
The reason Jeff's 12 fret mid depth bowl Adamas works so well is that the mid depth tames some of the booming bass of the U681. To my ears, it's a more balanced sound than the U681, but still maintains the beautiful depth and tone of the U681. |

For me, I prefer the mid bowl. Even tho I only play unplugged, the comfort of the mid is just about right. I don't care much for the contour bowl, I could take it or leave it. When playing the 2006, the top cuts into my ribs. Deep is too, well, deep. Since I play seated and unplugged, shallow bowl is out.
Basically, I think the opinion is: whatever you prefer. Depends on how you play and what you are looking for in sound and comfort. For me the right compromise is the mid bowl.
And yes, the mid bowl 12 fret Adamas is perfect. Too bad I'm the only one who has played mine. If anybody comes to Texas, look me up. I'll bring it to OFC 2007 if we ever find out when that is gonna be. (Blatant shot across the bow. I know you're working on it Al, just had to do it.) |

Location: Jet City | My Elite LX (mid has the warmest acoustic tone ever. It does get downed out sometimes when I'm playing with someone strumming on a traditional dread. I imagine the Contour is a bit louder?
I wouldn't mind Contour. Again, it's the beer belly factor. |
