Not a music guy but a great influence on our generation. Sad to see him go.

RIP PLN.

One of his passions was racing, as both a driver and an owner. His team has won many championships over the years. I will miss seeing him at the races, puttering around on his scooter.

Brought a lot of joy and supported many charitable causes. Don't remember ever hearing anyone say anything bad about him.

He will be missed.

He was one of the greats! Paul and Bob were probably the mast amazing duo ever. His charitable causes were enough to grant him sainthood in the next life. What a loss.

I was at O'Hare airport when I was on leave in the Navy and was on the phone with my dad, this was 1969, and Paul Newman walks by. I called him and said hello and he waved back at me. Adios, Hombre.

Agreeing with all the above... What a fine MAN!

He's one of the very few actors that I would buy a movie ticket to see.

Newman had one of Hollywood's rare enduring marriages. Asked for the secret, Newman said he had no reason to roam: "I have steak at home. Why should I go out for a hamburger?"

As I said...

Why can't the media report healthy relationships with the same vigor that they chase breakups and hookups.

A very fine example of living for others, be it his wife or those in need. Some people truly deserve statues.

RIP sir.

A great man. His charitable work was second to none. His acting talent os beyond dispute. He was a world class racing driver and was as good as any that raced sports cars through the 70's. Briefly met him at the Long Beach Grand Prix ten years ago and he was extremely gracious to nobodies like me and the missus. He had the most incredible eyes I have ever seen. Someone we would all do well to emulate.

That is exactly what made him special. He was wise enough to understand that fame didn't make him superior and anonymity didn't lessen your worth.

We are a celebrity oriented society. Some I've known and worked with were memorable human beings no matter how recognizable they were. Some were asses who were simply fortunate the chips fell where they did. The understanding that chance was a primary factor in their status is one of the attributes that set the former apart from the latter.

Mr. Newman was a humble and generous man. Grounded enough to realize that luck played a large role in his professional success.
That's rare and worthy of admiration.

Not only was he an icon, Paul Newman had class, in everything he did. Oh, Stonebob, I'm sure if Paul had heard you doing Ziggy Stardust, in a hotel lobby, he would never think that your a nobody.
