It's been a while since we've had a good poll. So...here's the scenario:

Your loving spouse calls you at work and asks that you get the grill going as soon as you get home...you're having grilled hamburgers and all the fixin's for dinner tonight! YAY!

When you get home and go to light the grill, you get a nasty surprise. You notice a McDonald's paper bag sticking out of the left rotisserie hole, which looks out of place and gives you a moment's pause. Lifting the lid is a whole other world of confusion, however. You find that the main grilling surface is covered with twigs, sticks, what looks like it used to be your golf glove (although you haven't actually had the clubs out in three years...boggle) and various other bits and pieces of detritus. The second level rack, however, is jam packed with 'nesting material' which has taken on the shape of the inside of the lid that it was pressed against.

As you take a split second to let all of this sink in, a rather largish chipmunk darts out of the right side of the grill, runs across the patio, through the yard and into a nearby tree. "What a cute pattern on it's back and tail," you think. Quickly followed by, 'WHAT THE F(*&*S H$(* IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!'

So, what would you do?

Trying to get back to member status, and being from the same climate. My grill is in use at least once a week no matter what time of year it is. Critters don't have a chance with my Webber!

Is this a fictional tale?
It comes very close to something that happened to a fellow OFCer this week. BrianT....care to share?
.
Like Islander2, it has to get awful cold and windy for me not to grill. Fifteen degrees?...As long as the wind is down, no problem.

Toast the critter and sell on ebay as a small alien. :D

Not how I voted. I went for the new grill,(bigger and more BTU). I know it's a guy thing.

While grilling it's always fun to pick on the Gitter. Staying upwind to preserve the smoke free environment on the instrument.

I would (did) just take an aspirin because the length of the damn question is giving me a headache. I was expecting a poll like "Do you like to grill. 1) Yes, 2) No."

So this soldier is standing on the dock as his troop is bording a ship headed for duty in Iraq. He's just torn because he absolutely does not want to go to Iraq and doesn't know what do do. he see a nun standing there waving goodbye to the soldiers. He goes up to the nun:

Soldier: "Oh sister, excuse me for being so bold, but I REALLY don't want to go to Iraq. Do you think I could just hide up under your dress until the ship leaves?"

Nun: "Why yes, my son. Of course just hide up under there and you will be saved from having to lay your life on the line in battle."

Soldier: "Oh god bless you sister, because I REALL don't want to go to Iraq." So he climbs up under her dress until the boat leaves and the crawls back out.

Soldier: "Oh thank you, thank you sister. But excuse me for saying this but as I was hiding under your dress I could not help but notice what a nice pair of legs you have."

Nun: "Why thank you, my son. And if you looked a little higher up you would have seen a nice pair of balls. Because I don't want to go to Iraq either."

Hrmm...I would tend to agree.

End story: SWMBO convened an emergency session of the family tribunal. It was decided that a plurality of members would not ever knowingly eat any food cooked on the grill that served as domicile to the friendly chipmunk. A motion was introduced to immediately acquire a new grill. Said motion was seconded (thirded and tentatively fourthed..but I hardly think a 2.5 year old can be considered a full member). I was appointed as driver and payer.

SWMBO was adamant that we would not be buying another grill with openings in the lid that would permit rodents to take up residency therein. The only manufacturer who has a lid without those oversized rotisserie holes is Weber. She vetoed my bid for a charcoal grill. End result...found last years version of the Weber Silver B for $150 less than this years model (and it was preassembled and included an LP tank...I now have four...the new ones do not include tank and assembly is extra).

Getting a fully assembled grill into the boss-lady's mini-go-getter was...entertaining (for those watching). On the ride back she realized I was enitrely too willing to accomodate her with regard to the new grill. It was then discovered that I had located several potential GAS-relief candidates.

A summary, ex cathedra ruling by SWMBO was then handed down...no new guitars.

Of course, she did say new....no mention of 'used.'

MUUUUUUUUUUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA!

You know, W2, no matter how many times I check, it's always the same...right house. It's like some twisted version of 'Groundhogs Day.'

Even tho I don't eat meat, I LOVE to GrillBBQ!
If you like seafood (IDO!), there's no better way t'cook it! and the right assortment of veggies (with a proper baste) is killah!
I've spent MORE NewYearsEve's than I'd care to remember at Annual outdoor (regardless of weather) BBQ's. Oftimes, (when atmospheric conditions were not conducive for grill operation), many a fire was kept alight by carberating small mouthfuls of YukonJack into the the glowing base of the coals (many was a sindged moustache as well;-)

Can't do the LP tho,
I KNOW it's convenient'n all, but it SNOT "building a fire & cookin' sumptin".
It's gotta be CHAHKhole! ;-)
In our last place, Jeanette & weren't able t'have a grill, (and I really missed it). When we Camp d'Keys last Christmas, I bought a Weber "tabletop"-size coal Kettle, and that basically served as our primary "stove" the entire trip. I got one of those metal, handheld "chimneys". I just fill it up with as much charcoal as I need "for duh job", an stuff a sheet of newspaper into the underside & light it. In 15-20 mins., i got just enough glowing coals to cook both our meals. If I needa big, "honkin'" fire, I'll add a full chiney fulla glowing coals to a quantity of unlit charcoal & "GitRdone". I gotta big, flat-bottom castiron wok (about the same mass as a BIG cast iron skillet), I 'll grille the fish on the fire and do a quick stirfry of the vegggies in the wok. Even done tempura in it! Only problem with that is, is that it takes a really HOT heatsource t'keep that much oil "rollin" consistently. For fuel efficiency, I'll go with a single Coleman burner when a do tempura (or deep-fry). A big "effort" I know, but doing it outside alleviates stinkin' up the house with Tuna&Broccoli-scented oil (unless o'course yer inta dat . . . . . doesn't make you a bad person).

Lemme know if y'need a recipe for Chip&Dale Tartare.

Just tucked Jeanette in for the night in Manhattan. It's been a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong day, but Thankfully, All has gone Well . . . .
