Hello all, getting a new ovation guitar a CC28, I haven't touched a guitar for a long time so I thought nows the time to get back into it, I remember when I was taking guitar the teacher had a ovation and I loved it, what are peoples thoughts on the CC28 model? I picked it up for a good price.

Welcome... I used to have a GC057 which is similar to a CC28.
Super Shallow Bowl and all that.
Of course you realize that you must post photos once you get it.

E&S,

Welcome to the Ovation Slippery Slope!

Two and an half years ago I decided to get back into learning the guitar after a 35 hiatus and bought an overpriced Celeb. Now here I am crotch deep in some of the greatest gits in the world.

Hang on... Awesome ride, especially with this OFC family!

Welcome!!!
I've been an Ovation "geek" now for about a Year and 3/4. Never owned a Celeb model as I have found too many great deals on Used USA models for close to the same price. The CC28 appears to be a laminated top/super shallow bowl. If you are playing mostly Acoustically, you won't get a good tone and would suggest a solid top and atleast mid depth bowl. Good Luck!!

Thanks all for the kind words & thoughts, I figured the CC28 would be good for a beginner like myself and when I am ready and financially stable :) I will look at getting a better model, speaking of another model what would a good step up from the CC28 be?

Go on to evilBay and hunt down a USA Elite T, and old Balladeer, or any old USA Model...

And I don't want to jump on the Celebrity-bashin' Bandwagon.
The first Ovation that I bought was a Korean-made 4861 Super-Shallow Balladeer.
(I was just starting and I got stuck in an eBay bidding-war and over-paid for it.)
But it was a nice little guitar. And it suited my needs just fine.
Take your time and find what speaks to you (as the poetic folk around here like to say).
GAS will get you out there spending money soon enough. :p Or Not! Who knows.
There are a few members here who only have One Guitar. (very few)

Welcome to the Hive!

Nice to see someone else from the "Live Free or Die" hinterlands!

Your enxt Ovation should be my 6778LX in a lovely New England Burst. You'd understand, unlike folks from the south who don't understand that trees can actually change color....

That's a nice looking git fiddle there! When you start looking for the 1778 that you're saving for, look for a used one. Lots of great used guitars for sale on this forum all the time.

Nice. Those MOP soundhole decorations on the new Celebs are gorgeous. I SOOOOO wish they would do that on the USA guitars and retire those so-'70s plastic things.

Enjoy your new guitar!

Welcome aboard. You're doing the right thing in saving up now for the "next one" (:

Once you hang out here for a while and discover how many options there are, you'll get hooked and end up with a "collection"
