Dave, you suck...

I was being really focused and then you go and offer this.

It probably needs a couple of Summers on the Riveria!

I played Stonebobbo's a month ago and thought it was just great. The only thing that keeps me from jumping on this one (and somebody should), is that I have the FD14, and I'm saving my money for either the OFC or another guitar and a guitar project.

If you own a FD14, then there is no reason to buy this guitar (other than historical purposes). But you'd be stupid to pay $1800. or so for the reissue when you get the real McCoy for way less than half of that.

I've played the reissue and it is nice, it is made to "look" like a Josh White, but it ain't a Josh White at heart. It lacks the wooden neck block, the engraved open tuners, and the steeper headstock angle. It's basically a 1114 Folklore with a shiny bowl. Nice instrument.

Not trying to pimp my sale, just giving opinions. And I'm not trying to put dealers out of a reissue sale. But I bought this guitar rediculously cheap and invested some money by having the factory spruce it up a bit. Result is that it's the steal of a lifetime for someone wanting the real Josh White. End of sales pitch.

Dave is full of sh#t except when he's selling guitars. Then he is meticulously honest. Whoever buys this guitar is going to get an outstanding guitar at a very very good price.

Dave,

It's a very nice guitar but I bought my Adamas 12 strings last week and unfortunately my budget is flat. :(

And I'm still thinking of an Adamas 2 with a slotted head... :D

Good luck Kurt.

J :)

Kurt,
I know that you are a reissue fan. But you should prefer this one over the Reissue. This guitar has history ....

Karl

PS. If things work out, we should meet each other and play some of Josh's tunes on our Josh Whites.

Karl,
I hope that will happen!

The Reissue model would have been the replacement for an original, with no risks - but the Reissue is not worth thinking about when you see Dave's outstanding original from '68!

We will see... Maybe we will have a Josh White reunion soon...

Regards, Kurt

Josh is one of my heroes. He was the first convert (from Martin?) to Ovation back in 1966. He knew what he did.

I just picked up a dvd on ebay a while back that has a cool Josh White clip on it..."The Legends Of Traditional Fingerstyle Guitar". I have a cd of his too...it's music history.

This was the guitar I originally wanted when I found out about the FD-14...it's all Dave's fault!! With the wide neck and wider string spacing at the bridge, this would make a great fingerstyle guitar! I'd jump on it if I didn't have the FD-14 (and too many bills I'm catching up on :( )

Three sales pending. One member is checking with his wife, the 1st backup already has wife's permission and I think the 2nd backup is single. Looks like it will stay in the OFC family one way or the other. Dave

I'm getting pretty tired of all this married guy whining. You guys have no idea how much time you save having someone around to do the dishes and laundry.

Waiting in the mall or fabric store once in a lifetime makes up for a lifetime of dishes and laundry.
Actually, that was possibly Jeff's most astute observation ever.
