By "Original Adamas I", do you mean one of the first slotheads made?? or just a guitar that isn't a re-issue? Big difference.

I know I can't afford an original slot head so one that isn't a reissue. Probably can't afford that either. I have gone guitar crazy lately  Too much GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vision,

in your signature there is a 1681-8. Shouldn't that be an Adamas I?

Or are you just looking for one of the non-cutaway models, 1687?
Like this one?

Adamas I 1687-9

Hey Kurt - that is a 1981 Adamas II 1681-8 that I have- no carved headstock or bridge - one of the first Adamas II's

yes the Adamas I 1687-9 would be the type I would like - more affordable that the original slot head - even though you never see the slot heads for sale - just some very nice pics

Yes, my fault. MIxed up the second digit with the last. For sure it is an Adamas II.

To be true, it took a long time for me to get used to those carved headstocks. Then I got my #47 - and fell in love with it. And the 1687-9 shown on the pictures is probably the one guitar in my collection that I am the most happy about. Absolutely gorgeous and nearly factoryfresh.

I know Al has some Adamas I listed.

Best regards,
Kurt

Kurt,

The 1687-9 that you have is one beautiful guitar!!! You are a lucky man. Those carved headstocks are something special. Have you ever notice that it looks like it is staring at you? I swear it has eyes

No, 1887 never existed and would have been a cutaway if it did. This is 1687-8S. The S means shallowbowl. At least that's what it says on the label.

Plays like any other adamas I. I had it tweaked adn setup by the factory awhile ago. Sound is slightly thinner than a deep bowl, but there's no mistaking that it's an adamas I. Dave
