Our ascent up to the mountaintop was temporarily halted when the Cruiser was beseiged by a huge flock of guinea hens that came running down the road to stop us and defiantly held us at bay beak-to-grille. Being that our host was serving TurDucHen (a duck stuffed into a chicken - stuffed inside a turkey), I considered the possibility of a Guinea Hen a'la GoodYear appetizer, but they finally backed off. . . obstinent little f*&^#s! Bill, I don't know what it cost to arrange for a sunny, sixty-something degree day in CT on NewYearsDay, but THANKS!! . . . it was well worth it!! Whilst I passed on the TurDucHen (Jeanette raved about it!), I opted for some of the delectible "shwimps" (a'la Mrs.W2) with a kickass cajun dipping sauce brought up from Fla. Beazlie demonstrated her canine "hunting" prowess (i.e: stand . . look up . . wait for something to drop). Late afternoon brought an impromptu jam. I was able to snap this pic with my discreetly-concealed "SlotHead-Cam" : Veterans of the Factory Tour may recognize Darren from Ovation at the back of the room playing an old Josh White of Bill's that had the busted top replaced with a brand new one (and an LX-style inlaid rosette). Darren also doubled on his other "passion", - his viola (or as he says they call it in his native Lewziana - a "Vee-O-LINN". Definitely added a whole new "flavor" to the jam . . nice!! In front of Darren is Hamer's own Jol Danzig playing one of Bill's Collings'. The gentleman on the couch playing the Hamer bass is a friend of Bill's, but his name escapes me, I wanna say "Jeff", but I'm probably wrong . . . The wall behind displays just some of the Teles that Bill has built. The one directly behind his head looks like it's just "beige", but it's actually covered in ostrich skin. Another one's a recently completed Koa. Good Food, Good Weather, Good Music, Good People. - couldn't ask for a better way to start the New Year. THANKS, Bill!! Have a Safe Drive back "Down Sowph" | ||
