I got a friend that builds guitars and he wants to make an authentic copy of my black gp for himself.
Since this guitar is so rare and expensive... why not? So, he´s gonna make a guitar just like the real gp. If somebody is interested, join him.

P.S.- There´s one guy that sux and he´s making really bad copies of the guitar. Check it out on:
http://www.myrareguitars.com/comingsoon6.html

P.S.S.- When i´m talking about real replicas... i´m talking about the exact same materials, proportions and sound-quality.

Well, that´s all.

Isn't there some sort of copyright infringement?? I know an original patent is good for seven years. But unless Ovation has said okay there "might" be some legal ramifications not so much with the copyright but using the Ovation name in the advertising.

Ovation my have a word to say about using the name. The guitar isn't even close enough to worry about. There are actually guitars I have seen from Samick and others that look more like a GP body, than this one does.

No infringement. It's just a Les Paul with an upper horn and an Ovation peghead. Make the peghead slightly different and Go for it!

I´m not saying that the replica would be called Ovation Ultra Gp. So, there´s no legal problems.

Second, he doesn´t have a website yet, but he´s making it. We haven´t started the replica yet. It will take some time. Be patient.

How do you know he sux? How do you even know the guitar sux? You haven't heard it yet. And quite fankly, the sound is all that matters.

Of course the most important is the sound that matters the most, but to make the good sound coming up you need, also, a good equipment.

I hope your not getting one of those Eastwood copies or are you in that business?

Yeah, I ordered one. He offers a full refund if you aren't happy with your guitar.

You still haven't answered my question. How do you know he sux?

Oh by the way, I have two Ovation GP's, both stock, 1 with Dimarzio Super 2's and one with the Korean copies of the Super 2's. And the Korean copies sound better. I'm gonna see what the Eastwood sounds like.

The guitar sux cause it´s a rancid copy. When you make a replica you have to respect the form and design of the original piece. It´s obvious that you don´t care about it because you don´t understand my words. One thing is true... the sound is the most important. So, if you have 2 GP´s, why are you buying that copy? Is it because of the colour? LOL

Leal, click the Privacy Statment below, which actually takes you to an excerpt from the Terms Of Service. No flaming allowed. You don't like the guys stuff, fine. Leave it at that. When you get yours made, please post, I'm sure they will be great.

Ok. Ok. From now on i´ll be kind. The only thing i dislike is the Eastwood copy. It´s not well done.

Another thing is that "Señor" is Spanish and "Senhor" is Portuguese. It´s always good to learn something.

I'm buying it out of sheer curiosity. If it sounds like a GP or if it even sounds good, I have another great guitar for $650 dollars. If I don't like it, it gets sent back.

There's a limit to how accurate a copy or reproduction should be. There are people who make historical reproductions, for example, who intentionally build in "inaccuracies" to ensure that the repros they build will never be sold as an original. I think your friend is looking out for himself as well as Ovation by using a design that is inspired by the original rather than an imitation that some folks will inevitably criticize because of some visible, but trivial difference.
Good luck.
John
