Yea, I have to agree with Michael, that CL is just plain.... gaudy! All that flare and glare with those over-sized inlays, ugh! I mean, who needs that...

So, when you're tired of all that sparkle getting in your eyes and making it hard to see, just let us know and we'd happily help out a fellow O-Fan to see better AND not have to look at all that pearly stuff.

Hey, just trying to be there for ya, man... cause... well, cause we love you, man. Of course not as much as we love your guitars, but that's a given.

Thanks a lot Mario.....

I just picked up a killer re-build three days ago, and posts like this are already giving me more G.A.S.

Man those are nice!

My GAS didn't reignite. I have an 04 Commemorative and a 97 Collector. Mario's pics just made me want to go play mine. The bling on the CLs really looks great next to an 87 Collector. Two of the best looking and sounding Ovations. You should put an 87 Collector on your GAS list for March, Mario.
An Adamas is just in a different class, as is the 97 Collector. They are so unique they don't need bling.

What's the little slothead on the right? I'm not familiar with that one... Looks like a 3/4?

Parlor... dunno if that's considered 3/4. I think it's just the body size, not the scale, but I don't have the specs, haven't ever owned one, and am just speculating.

97C scale is 25" and a quarter. Full Scale.

HERE is one on Dave's Ovation Gallery.

There is a button for specs at that bottom of the page.

A couple years ago I was in Denver on my birthday and found one on Craigslist. I called and it sounded interesting, but couldn't get over to see it. Called the Professor and he went over and gave me the "if you don't buy it, I will" line. I love it. It's the December guitar on the OFC Calendar. They are just a simple little guitar that I would keep in the parlor, if I had a way to control the humidity. Even down in the basement with its big brothers, I play it as much as I play any other.

I love the 97C. It's the Jedi Knight of Ovation guitars. It is very humble and unassuming, but whenever you get close to one a little voice says "This is the guitar you're looking for....."

I am still amazed at how loud it is. I put a new set of strings on it and it got even louder! By the way, I have never strung a steel string slot head before. I did it the same way as a nylon. Is that right or is there a different way?

There's probably a couple threads just on how to string a slothead and you could probably find a bunch more on the web. I generally allow a little more length on the higher strings and wind them away from the center. If I don't allow enough slack on the skinny strings they tend to slip. Except for that and that I don't have to tie knots at the bridge for steel strings, I do it the same as for nylons. Others use the trapped string method, but I can't explain that, so I'll let you find some pictures if you want.

That 'Touch Sensitive Volume Control' looks kinda interestin'. Was the '97C the only model with it?

I think it was the only one. Probably more of a novelty than anything. A slider or knob would do the same thing and probably be less prone to failure. Mine hasn't given me any trouble until the battery gets low.
