Hmmm...'Allowed'..Now that's a BIG word in marriage...still, you can get a LOT of Ovation nowadays for $1000. I think you can do better than the 1778 for that price, and the 1778 is a really nice guitar.

Yes it is a BIG word that's why even though she said $1000 I want to keep it under just for the sake of things I can say see I kept it under just for you :) haha

Good t` see yer learnin` already , however , do take care ..

Some years ago I looked at a camera , a Voigtlander Bessa L with a 15 mm 4.5 Heliar , I said , " I do n`t have an Ultra -Wide " , and She said " Go fer it ".. so I did ..
some time ago I rambled about the virtues of said camera , when She said " leave me alone " .. I remarked that I had purchased it , `cuz She told me it was `kay , .. the reply was " I did n`t know that you would buy it " ..

Careful my friend .. Women are .. ehr .. " special " :)

I think your relationship needs a quick "stress test." I would buy that guitar NOW, just to see how understanding she will be in the future as your wife. ("Best to find out these things early.)

A tip: Always buy guitars of the same color. When you sneak a new one into the house, she won't know the difference for some time. When she finally does, you can say, "Oh this? No, I've had this one for a while."

So no ones commented on the 6868AX model? I take it its a step up from the 1778TX and I like the new england burst color as well.

Can't compare the sound of any O with the sound holes on both sides and without the textured paint. I won't put down any one's gits, but the 1778T has a sound like no other guitar.

That being said, I have a pewter 1778T (USA made) I will be selling for the simple reason that the pewter (unlike the black and the red) came with a regular sized neck. The black and red came with thinner necks which I unfortunately cannot do without!

If you're interested in the pewter, let me know. Don't spend $1000 for a smaller sound. Ask the other Elite T owners. The T sounds better than guitars several times its price.

OK, with all due respect to the fact that you obviously love each other ...

You're not even married yet and she's giving you "permission" to buy a guitar ???

I have a feeling you've just seen the tip of the iceberg. I would run to the wheelhouse and steer the titanic hard right before it's too late. Good luck.

These are reasons that I never got Legally Married...

But this also might be why I am Old and Alone, and associating with similarly 'Old and Alone' females.

(but I digress)

"So no ones commented on the 6868AX model? I take it its a step up from the 1778TX and I like the new england burst color as well."
Just because something Costs More does not necessarily mean that it is a Step Up.
Also, I would consider a used guitar while I was looking. Someone else will have taken the time to break it in, and worn a large percentage of the 'new' cost off of the price tag.
A new guitar does come with a warranty, but how often do you use a warranty?

6868AX and 1778TX are different guitars, so that is total personal preference.
But that New Wingland Burst in Purdy.

I LOVE newlyweds. They come into the shop, I put the most expensive guitar into the guy's hands, and she says, "Oh Honey, let's buy it! I WANT you to have it." A year later, the same people come in and she says, "Come on Honey, let's go. You don't NEED another guitar."

Why aren't you talking about her buying you a guitar that you can play at your wedding? That seems appropriate to me.
