Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Ah, another beautiful Minnesota winter morning, the sun shinning brightly (somewhere behind the ice crystal haze), the songbirds freeze dried hanging upside down from the branches they once perched upon, the flowers in full death, the sweet smell of eythel-alcohol in the air, the heavenly sound of motorized vehicles whining like Bob Dylan in heat.
Actual temp.this morning -24, with a windchill of -35.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Hey. Our North Texas temperature is currently 22, but POSITIVE 22!! I can't imagine it being -24.....
Damn, I jsut checked and even Corpus Christi is going down to 34 tonight - if it freezes for too long it kills the palm trees....... |

Location: Zion, Illinois | We're up to +7 here in Chicago, going down to -6 tonight.
I know what -24 is like, we had 3 days in a row back in 1979 where it was -50 (with wind chill).
When I first got married in 1985 my wife who is from the Phillippines, started complaining about how cold it was when the temperature dipped to 50 degrees. I told her to wait unti it is -50, then complain.
The good news is that it is suppose to warm up to around 40 in a few days. Hang in there Norseman.

A SWEATER?! I wrapped my kid in two Malamutes and a Husky this morning! My wife is busy chewing on my leather boots as I write (no, not to soften the leather, just because I like it that way ;) )!

Some day a dog sled will come yipping from the north through the snowmobile trails, driven by a RCMP disgusted by the way you mistreat your wife, and loaded with transcripts of your posts. After passionate choruses of Rose Marie and recitations of The Cremation of Sam McGee, you will find yourself freezing alone as she fades into the distance to the lonely sound of sled dogs howling as they head home for Canada where it is -80, but she will have respect and never have to play second fiddle to an Ovation.
I know cause I lived through some Ohio winters where we were snowed in for days!

bring your dog sled down here. We need it! It was 15 degrees this morning! All the Martins cracked because I forgot to put a sheet over them last night and my tongue got stuck on my National this morning. Hasn't been this cold in 25 years they say. At least we haven't had the S word yet. |

You brought it on yourselves sending a bunch of privateers to face the nation's gang bangers in beautiful San Diego, Which I will remind you, you used to make fun of it's beautiful weather in tourist's brochures, this is sweet revenge as you Floridians shiver in your snowstorms and watch a Super Bowl in 80 degree weather. SAN DIEGO RULES as does the RAIDERS. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | it's the opposite here. hottest jan in ages. i was literally dripping sweat last night at midnight playing an acoustic set at philo's. its that el nino thing again. we are in the mid 80's every day. wish i could send you some and you could send me some. |

We have a bit of a heat wave here today also. Its up to + 17 already, might climb to 19 or 20.

I don't want to make you northeners suffer, I remember when I was a teen ager, my brother and I walking 5 miles carrying our instruments through crunchy snow to jam with our buddy Billy, who played with my brother until he died of cancer 45 years later. If you're a picker a little snow doesn't stop you. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | bradley, if you could send us some of that cold air, my wife, kathleen would bake you cake every day. i don't mind it too much because i spent years in the forging shop of my business. we worked around furnaces and coal fires so hot you never had hair on the exposed parts of your arms.
it is going to be 89 today, and humid. it's like summer already. normally it's 10-15 degrees cooler and dry. at least it's a kicked back superbowl party day. |

Hang on to your 2 Malamutes and that Huskey, it's going to be another 3 dog night.

Location: Las Cruces, NM | You guys are making me shiver, I left Ohio in 1962 with a wife and 3 kids and went to San Diego because I had too much of that kind of weather. I now have 4 grown kids, and have only revisited Ohio in winter of '64 for my dad's funeral and haven't been back since. Weather here is a comfortable 60's. |

i worked on the north slope one winter in the late 60's and i know what that cold is like. our camp thermometer went to -68 and the alky was in the bulb a few times. at around -40f steel becomes so brittle we weren't allowed to use the nodwells (trucks with tracks) because frames would easily break. when the wind started to howl the chill factor would reach -250 or more according to the airforce chill factor chart we used. it became extreemly dangerous to even walk from one of our mobile buildings to another and we never would go out alone, even to walk a few hundred feet. the pay however was excellent. 16x7 hrs guaranteed, time and a half over 40, and double time for sundays and holidays. if you stayed out of the poker games the duckets stacked up fast. |
