I'm hoping the more talented members can help us less gifted hangers-on to learn the songs on our 'next' list. The idea is to start a 'discussion' with the title/artist(s) of the song you want to learn and hopefully, someone will post a link, a tab, or best of all, a video tutorial. Slipkid gave me the idea with his 'Overkill' thread. (BTW, how IS that one going Brad?)

I just have to play it enough to commit it to memory. I'll be joining your group shortly. Thought for the day.... An amateur will practice until he gets it right... A professional will practice until he can't get it wrong.

I think it is much easier than the "correct" way and sounds just fine to me. When I go home tonight I'll work up some number type tabs and see if I can get the idea across. I know I should post it on the Ning site but I'll post it here to help generate interest. It would be soooo much easier if you could come over to the house this weekend for a jam & some pizza but I know how busy you are down there. I really need to figure out how to video tape a short clip and download it on the web.

I should be DOWN-loading it. If I were sending something to fillix I would UP-load it. Seems to me the only logical thing to do.

I've seen all kinds of different spellings "bar". I don't really care what the right one is. It rhymes with JAR... okay?? Bar at the fifth fret and play a A shape. This gives you a D chord. Only hit the A,D & G strings three times. That is... X577XX Then change to X576XX... hit three times. . Then go down the fretboard two steps and repeat the pattern. X355XX three times X354XX three times That is the basic, mechanical pattern. Once you got that, relax and put some mojo into it. Do some chunka-chunka stuff on the muted strings and dress up the pattern a bit. I like the starkness of this pattern during the verse in contrast to the more standard strumming in the chorus. Or, as Cliff likes to say... "Makes it less strummy-strummy / singy singy". I hope this made sense and the technical terms like "chunka-chunka" didn't throw you off. Good luck... with me trying to teach something, you'll need it.
