Location: Warren,Pa. | My 1115 has a plastic saddle which I want to replace with bone. None of the online sources I see have one big enough; maybe someone here is more resourceful than I am.
I need 1/8"x9/16"x3".
I'm putting K&K p/u's in and I want the best transference of vibration I can get. It wouldn't necessarily have to be bone; I just want something better than plastic.

Location: NJ | A Tusq saddle will fit. I put one in my Pacemaker.
Keep in mind, that you DO have to cut/shave down the "height" yourself . . . they don't come by size "off the rack" . . . |

| Try Colosi's Custom Guitar Saddles . He has oversize and custom size saddle blanks in bone, elephant ivory, west african hard ivory, and walrus ivory (sadly, no fossilized whale penis). |

Location: Carle Place, NY | I once spent several hours sanding and fitting a bone saddle in a 1111 Balladeer. The blank was a lot thicker than the slot and required much work to get it evenly to the right thickness. The final fit was perfect, nice and tight. After doing it I was disappointed that there was no difference in the tone of the guitar, at least to my ear.
I know some here will disagree, but to me replacing the standard plastic saddle with a bone one is a lot of pain with little to no gain. |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | I went thru this exercise a few years ago. You gotta be some kinda machine to hear the difference. I think it helps, but it's incremental. Buy hey, you can say you got one made out of bone. In terms of bragging rights you win. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | I just changed out the saddles and nut on my strat with GraphTek. We'll see how it goes. Even though the nut was supposed to be precut for a strat, I still had to do some sanding to get it to fit properly. |

John <>{ Colosi also sells ebony saddle shim kits (links on the left hand side of his page). This guy's products have been discussed (positively) quite a bit over on the Takamine board. You can send him your saddle and he'll make one custom from it as a model, from an oversize blank.
Personally, I'd wait for the fossilized T. rex penis - talk about a killer sound. |
