I saw a pacemaker that has a small gap at the bottom of the neck heal where it meets the bowl. You can stick a piece of paper about a 1/4" in between under the neck. In your collective opinions is this a problem?

1/4" is no "small gap".

Wouldn't you want to try and close a gap in that location rather then wedge something in there to tend it to go wider???

Mario, I assume that what you observed is a gap about the thickness of a piece of paper. If it extends under the heal only 1/4", I'd call that a small gap. How's the action? What's the price? Any other flaws or problems?

Yes Mitch that is correct, you did a better job of saying what I meant. The gap is only in the 2 corners at the heal and does not surround the neck joint. The action is 3/16" at the 12 fret. I have not seen in person only in pictures. The only other problem is a small nick at the base of the head stock, and some fret ware. But for $200 it sounds like a great deal.

Mitch is a lawyer. In spite of all the flack we get, at least we are trained to read. I understood what you meant. The action doesn't seem too high, or it might signal the neck pulling up, but for $200 it sounds like a deal.

That's pretty much been my measuring stick. On older guitars that aren't of particularly "collectible" value, if it's in playable condition, it's at least worth $200, add a few bucks for condition, a case, favorite color.. whatever.. but I start in my head at $200.

Did someone say BUY IT? If not, I just did! Pacemakers are great 12 strings!
For $200, I bought a 1969 some months back; going to the mothership soon but even after they get through for the money invested; what a great guitar! Keep us informed (pic's if possible if you get it).

3/16" action at the 12th fret is a bit high. If it comes with an Ovation case $200 is still a nice deal. You can always just play first position chords on it, but if you want to use the entire neck it probably will need a re-set.

Oh no, The Wizards can undo that fairly easily.
Its a temporary fix, 'til the requisite funds are available for a trip to The MotherShip.
