Their discontinued models introduced in 1989 have a good reputation and continue to fetch good prices on the resale market. I have to believe these new models are going to be expensive! Just wondering if they're still within the Fender/Kaman corporate umbrella? http://www.trace-elliot.co.uk/news_2.php?flag=US&lan=UK&key=84

I suppose in a club or other small venue it wouldn't matter but the couple I tried (or owned) all had a hum that made them unsuitable for recording. The amps sounded great and I have heard some without the buzz so I know they are out there.

Got it in a lost guitar shop of a lost village near Florence 3 year ago. It has an amazing sound when an O is plugged in. Riccardo

Can't say enough about their level of service. My TA100R Concert is absolutely dead quiet. They're at www.britishaudioservice.com Shane services all my Gibson tube amps too.

I have no clue where this hum thing is coming from all the trace amps I owned were quiet. want something with hum? buy an swr

I was using it for travel and had a custom ATA case made for it by Jan-Al, which it now mostly sits in because I'm totally hooked on the Genz Acoustic Pro. I'm just curious how these new models stack up against the competition. It is my impression that Trace Elliot has always had a good reputation, although historically they're a bit pricey new.

I do not think SWR amps hum. Hum usually indicates a problem requiring a fix. Some brands hiss.

It is a great sounding amp and it really cranks I can turn it up to the "hurt people in a small bar" kind of volume if needed and no feedback problems. It is not silent when turned on..........not a loud hiss and no humm but is this something that can be grounded out? or is it the ghost in the machine that is inherant in these Peavey's? I figure this bunch would know of any line plug device that might correct this. I don't think Al will let me trade toward the Genz Benz? But I have not officially asked yet.
