Hi! I would like to ajust my bridge to have better harmonics and tones and to remove the bad sounds when the strings are touching the frets. Do you have good advices for me?

Thanks

Ian

Ovations have shims, under the saddle. You must lossen or remove the strings. Carefully lift the saddle up and remove shims if too high, or add shims if too low. To adjust for fret buzzing your action may be too low: add shims. You can also adjust the truss rod on the guitar neck. You can find information in more detail from posts on this board. What kind of guitar is it?

I have a Viper III! What is the effect of the truss rod on the neck? I have some problems in the middle of my fretboard... some notes sound false but I don't know why. When I take a look of my neck, it seems to be okay... there is not curve or anything wrong.

Thanks

Ian

you need to adjust intonation at the the bridge before doing anything else.

There are set screws on the string saddles and you need to adjust those checking the tuning at both the open string and 12 fret.

Okay! Is it better positions for each saddles or is it unique to each guitar? For exemple, my telecaster does not have the same setting on the saddles if I compare to the setting of the Ovation... of course I think it's hard to compare these models cause the bridge system is very different!

Thanks Jeff!

I saw you come from Virginia! I went in Virginia Beach 2 years ago... very nice and cool place with a lot of army jets (Norfolk I guess)!

Yes, each guitar will be different, so adjust each and every string saddle the way described above...

They don't allow me in Virginia beach...I live in the mountains and they think I'll pee in the water.

Isn't that how they keep the bath water warm in Virginia?

Dear Hal,

It is a fact of life that after the first 10 replies every thread will steer off course and perhaps even degenerate into some of us friends exchanging harmless jabs. Sometimes we even write bad words. Please forgive us. Nobody is forcing you to read it.

Respectfully yours,
Dave
