| Hello all...........thanks for having me..........dig the site....although I was hoping to see some pics of vintage ovation electrics...............so here is a pic of mine, freshly purchased on ebay...don't even have it in my hands yet..........really wanted the UK II that went off earlier, but was out bid at 478.99..........paid 265 for the viper...............any thoughts on that?...............it needs a case........any help?

I love my Viper that was bought new many years ago, if the one you bought is in playable condition and it looks good, you got a good deal. If you check some of the recent postings, you will find some great pictures of Ovation solid bodies. I'll give you some suggestions after I get back to the board and jog my memory. Also, if there are any problems with your Viper there are people here that you won't find anywhere else to help you. Here's to good Viper Pickin'.

That is something that I will have to get to at some point scanning what I have and borrowing others. It will get done but I am not sure when I can devote the time to it |

Speaking of scanning old brochures and "stuff"...
Any chance on getting any old Adamas info? I've heard (on this board) of some old brochures... I've been searching the net and have found little.

if you have any old paperwork scan it and send it to miles. Just make sure he still wants it in pdf these tech guys get wierd on you sometimes and the flavor of the month changes.

a few months ago I contacted John Budny in service and he agreed to loan me some brochures so I can scan them. I have not taken him off on the offer yet since I need to block out some time to do this.
Personal note. I have been trying to get a 2 car garage with a studio on top built as an addition to my house. I have been going through contractor hell. There are many issues here that I just won't get into but after being screwed by 3 different contractors I am on a mission to get this accomplished. Whatever I can do myself is one less thing to pay for when I finally get a crew that agrees to my terms and I agree to theirs and they don't want to fund 8 kids tuition to harvard. so I have been very busy knocking out some preparation projects at my house. Once the bad weather comes I will have more time to devote to this but now my time is tight. I also organize then SJ guitar show and have found out that the venue is sold so If I wish to continue I will need to scope out a new venue and in all honesty I am not so sure that is a plausable situation at this point. So add that on top of trying to run my own business I have my hands full right now. |

The only old paperwork I have is the little booklet that came with my Custom Balladeer and I MIGHT have an old Adamas brochure from when they first came out and I used to go to the shops and ogle them in my "yute". I might possibly have an old Ovation catalog from 12-15 years ago, but this stuff is probably all pretty much commonplace with so many of you die-hard collectors around. I am but a mere "piker". I was kinda offering my services to possibly help with scanning, retouching, editing, and pdf creation.

Working in the tradeshow/convention industry, I can make some inquiries and possibly see what venues might be available/appropriate for you.
WHERE would you LIKE to base it?
Is there a certain mile radius you'd be willing to deviate from that initial choice? |

| Thanks Al, I was not complaining, this is a great place..........good people and the best source for info............keep it going.
your new member Drew............who is also a Building contractor in Louisville, KY............I can probably help a lot with the garage.......need to know where you live......the building codes should be very similar.........you should be the head contractor your self if you can spare the time and headache....pull the permits your self etc., should save you around 20%...........send me an email, or call if you want.

contact miles see what format he needs maybe if everyone scanned the 2 or 4 pieces of paper they had it will all come together more quickly than me trying to get an exhaustive list at once.
As for the convention thing since it is the
South Jersey Gutar show that would tend to follow that is where I want to keep it although there are issues with being in Jersey that you do not have in Pa md de etc any idea on what are good newspapers to advertise with in the north jersey area? send me some e mail

I will send you an e mail There are a bunch of factors here. I actually got one of the X contractors to make up some plans. He wanted 30K in labor only I have one estimate of 23K including materials but I have a bunch of materials and he wants me to eat them.
My dad was a contractor I did not follow that field but I know enough to be dangerous. I know how things should be done and how much to pay and not to pay. That is my main problem if I was a total idiot then I would just write a check and not pay until it was to my satisfaction |

If anyone wants to send me scans, feel free. Format doesn't really matter as I will be most likely putting them into .pdf. If you can do .eps that's cool cause it will maintain its integrity, but really as long as it looks good to you, it will probably be fine.

I just spent 20 years building Corps of Engineers military projects, with some transitions to a GSA Border Crossing at Santa Teresa, NM and a water system installation in a Colonia in El Paso, all as a mechanical idiot, installing plumbing, air conditioning, etc.. And all I can say to Al is the people who write the rules are determined to stop all construction unless they can get a little "commision" from the contractor. Most rules are Written to enrich the unions and the "concerned" politicion. |

Keep us informed of what's happening, I've had some experience in courts also, as you know legal advice can only be given by an attorney but suggestions based on our experience might be useful. The law is available to all of us, and can be read if you know what citations are being used against you. The law is an equal sum game, and each participant has equal rights, the theory of court participation is one of adversity, the side that doesn't realize this is sure to lose. You must, MUST, present to the court as strong a case as you can muster, the judge will rule on which case presents the legally correct circumstances, a court case is a battle to the end if you want to prevail, the opposing attorney is required to present the strongest case against you that he can by bar ethics, and your attorney is ethically required to do the same, unfortunately, lazy attorneys will come to you with suggestions of negotiations that will destroy your case so they can get their money and avoid the work of winning their case. A court case by all legal definations is a battle that can be lost by surrendor, or won by an aggressive determination to fight to the last "drag me kicking and screaming from this court". You can represent yourself, but if you do, get a copy of the court's rules which are free, and a library book of cases similar to yours. If you act like a wronged citizen, and obey the rules as presented, you might win.

we are at the settlement negotiation stage. Their last offer was close but not acceptable. My attorney is a wimp theirs is a bully So I am playing hardball otherwise we pick a jury on monday morning. |

That's the spirit that can win, your attorney must represent you, you tell him (or her) what your position is and insist that there is no compromise. The court is ADVERSIAL as I said before, if there was a negotiating position you would not be there, it is your attorneys job to find the strongest legal support for your position and to counter the opposing attorney's position to the best of his ability. There are precedents for any set of circumstances and they are not hard to find. If you have any time, research your type case on the net if you have to go to court, so you have some feeling of the history of your kind of litigation. Don't try to give your attorney legal direction, but try to see if he is really trying to win or is just skating on easy research to fill his pleadings with nonsense. If he is, you can speak in court to enhance your position as your attorney and you are equal in standing. If you lose you pay, he loses nothing. |
