Joined: August 2002 Posts: 110 | I have a celebrity deluxe and a custom legend 12 string. I have just received my 12 string today(brand new). My celebrity's finish is smooth with no bracing dents, but my 12 string does. This the second 12 string they sent me. The first one they sent to me, was returned. The one they sent me today looked a little bit better than the 1st one. I can see a few lines on the top where the bracing is(about 5 lines). Can anyone explain why the Korean tops is smoother than the USA made models. Is it normal? My celebrity has multi-soundholes my 12 string is a center soundhole. Does it have anything to do with this?

I ordered it from MF, but it was backordered for a month or so. My question is: Are all newer custom legend 12 strings like this? Will this affect the top later on in the future?

Joined: June 2002 Posts: 147 | I have a 1769-AD5 that came out of the factory last summer. Its black and if you hold it up to the light just right you can see faint bracing line shadows. I personally know it came from A stock. I have several ovations and Adamas guitars and this one sounds especially good. I think that the top and the bracing should be as one to get the best sound. So I don’t have a problem with it and if any thing goes wrong down the road I know from experience Ovation will bend over backwards and do what ever needs to do to make it right. Mike

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 110 | Thanks for the reply Mike. My 12 strings sounds great. I'm keeping this one, but will never buy a black guitar again. I'll try white next time.....I'll wait until Ovation comes out with a white custom legend, or maybe I'll get an Mellisa E. 6 string.
