Hi. I just got my hands on a Ovation Viper with a serial number starting with an E and 4 digits (E6258). I was hoping someone could give me a bit of information about this guitar. Like how old it is and its value.

Thanks

Jim

You can get some idea of the age from this chart: http://www.ovationguitars.com/index.cfm?fa=codethree Yours might be as early as 1975.

Miles has a big collection of solidbodies and info: http://www.baronaudio.com/collection/ Here's another nice page: http://www.ovationuk.co.uk/page10.html

Vipers aren't worth as much as they should be. You might find a nice one on eBay for $350-$450. The three pickup version is worth more.
