Hi...This is Mark and I just signed up to the site. I have had two Ovations...the first was a cherry red hollow body bass in the 70s. Looked as bit like an ES-335.

Im writing today to ask about the Breadwinner I inherited from my brother when he passed. Its a cool guitar, and I want clean it up and use in my band live.

I noticed some differences, maybe some of you can comment:

First, there is no Ovation logo on the headstock...and it looks like the tuners have been changed. Someone has added an extra switch by the volume/tone knobs. But most notably is on the back side....the cavity that houses the pre-amp is in a different location than what I see in other versions and pictures.

The rear plate holding the neck appears to be original.

I just put some new strings on it...and will spend more time playing it soon.

Comments?
