Hello, I just bought a broken ovation bass amplifier from craigslist and would like to fix it. I've fixed a few bass amps and broken a couple but this one is interesting, well designed and I need help to get it right. I play rhythm and blues but my son has really taken off in his bass playing. I think this would sound nice. The amp has a single 15" old Eminence speaker with the square magnet and an internal solid state amp, volume, bass and treble/boost knobs with a 1/4" pre in/power out jack that I do not know how to work.

The problem is a 60 cycle hum; constant with nothing changing it except power off. There are two different transistor types on the heatsink. RCA 40411 and RCA SK3036. All other components look good and high end.

Thank you,

Fred Rutherford/ Ma.

Is there a model number?  Can you link to a picture?

60 hz humm is generally power supply related and as there are a couple of large caps in there, that's where I would start.
