I just put a 1991 Ovation 5868AS on 30 day lay-a-way and wanted to ask about it. Paid six bills for it; is that a decent price? As you know, it has a walnut top so I figure this thing is built like a tank (weighs like it too). Fabulous sound through an amp, ok for stand alone but weak projection - seems made to be played plugged in.

Can the saddle be lowered or is it a factory set height and non-adjustable? I'm going to want to lower the action and I can see that the saddle itself IS the piezo pickup so I'm not at all familiar with what will be found under the saddle. If no shims, can the bridge be routed out 1/16" or so?

Any and all input about this guitar will be much appreciated

also in need of string height measurement (press on fret 1 and 14 and measure at fret 7 for 1/32", etc)
