Location: Atlanta, GA | I do a great deal of airline travel and it's usually for week long trips so I picked up an Applause CC012 (the 1/2 size one) on eBay for travel. I strung it up when I got it and the bridge appears to be lifting from the rear, which is a bit odd since there's two bolts to hold it down.
Out comes the mirror and I peer inside. The bolts don't go through the bridge plate -- the nuts sort of catch the edge but shouldn't the bridgeplate be deep enough for the bolts to go through it? Otherwise they're just waving out in the breeze when the strings tension the top.
Repair thought: no regular repair shop wants to bother with the repair to a "cheap" guitar, and to be frank, I don't want to spend beaucoup $$ on the repair either. I'm almost to the point of removing the bolts and gluing a block of wood behind the bridge and drill new holes so the bolts will have something to bolt up to. I don't have a lot of experience with Ovations, so any other ideas welcome. It's exasperating to have the guitar sitting there not able to be used as I pack for another trip. . . . |
