Location: Evansville,IN | There seems to be a quite a few retro guitars being made.
Do you think Ovation will ever remake their solidbody electric guitars again? It would be nice to be able to buy a new Deacon or Breadwinner. They were already 20 years ahead of their time when they were first made. They would be right in line today.
A place called Phantom Guitars is remaking a lot of the old style Vox electric guitars. These are made in the USA too, and I'm sure there are others. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Anything is possible, but probably the answer is NO. Not that Ovation wouldn't want to, but I doubt Kaman would let one division canibalize another (hamer). Probably the same reason they wouldn't be allowed to build a wooden box guitar (takamine). Best hope is that they do a Collectors Edition Viper (new style). Dave |

Location: NJ | Well Ovation/Hamer could make a deacon but would you pay 2K for a guitar that you can buy for $600 any time? probably not.
If they do it they could do it with an import but that would only appeal to the people that like the shape. Hey if they missed the josh homme bandwagon why would they consider a deacon?
as for ergonomic buy a klein. I would love to own one they are unbelieveably comfortable to play. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I've never seen it mentioned on the Hamer board. But you can custom order a Hamer and have them make it any shape you want. The one thing they won't do is put an Ovation headstock on it. I offended Jol once by asking if he could build me a custom with an Ovation headstock. He bit his tongue and politely told me "Yes I could, but NO I won't".
I think a really cool idea and Ovation should offer it as a standard option (oximoron), is to order a new Viper with out the bowl paint and have the body gloss finished. That wooden body is really beautiful underneith.
I agree with Al, Ovation and Hamer aren't exactly "timely" when it comes to cashing in on the next big thing. If it were me, I would have had a Shania Twain signature Viper on the market the moment she slid into her lycra.

Location: Evansville,IN | I know Warmoth will cut it any shape you want it, for a price of course, but you're right you wouldn't get the famous Ovation headstock. :(
It was just a thought I had. I get those once in a while. It's just that so many places are rebopping the older guitars. :) |

I'm been waiting to pull the trigger on a Monaco Elite that's hanging up over at Earhart's electronics AS WE SPEAK (or type anyway), they have it proced at $1,800.00 but they've given me a break on just about everything I've bought from them lately. |

Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Actually GCheese, it's a chambered mahogany body, I have the EAB-68 (see pictures in some of the other posts!), it's the discontinued bass version...
I never noticed the price list, is it that a new thing???
Also says a natural finish takes 3 months longer, thinkthey could finish the back while they're at it.... |

Location: Tennessee | A couple of months back I pinged the factory on having them refinish the mahogany body in natural. It can be done but it's at least half a grand. I may do it later this year but I'm still saving my nickels and dimes for the OFC guitar. The real trick is getting matching mahagony covers for the neck adjustment and electronics ... leaving the black plastic covers would be an eyesore on an otherwise (presumably) gorgeous guitar. |
