last night I played the first gig with my new (and first) Ovation! I can NOT believe the difference this guitar makes, what an absolutely amazing sound. I got so many comments about the sound and look. Ovation guitars are a rare breed in Spain, so there was a lot of interest!!
I've gigged quite a few makes of guitar but never had anything like this. The sound just...fills the room completely. Crystal clear notes and amazing warm chords.
In short the best guitar I've ever owned.

Location: Spain | Thanks guys, Prof it was just a very small bar, only about 40 people, simple guitar and vocals, just me. Only going straight into a little mixer they have, simple 4 channel job, nothing special at all, but to be honest I wouldn't have wanted or needed anything more. Somebody actually said it was great to see just a guitar and singer without, and I quote, "all that gadgetry nonsense". |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I did my first nursing home gig last night. After too much reflection on what guitar to use, I finally settled on the 2078 (2010 Limited Edition). 30 Watt Epiphone Acoustic amp worked well in a fairly small room. I only needed that because of the hearing impaired audience. My mix of 60s and 70's tunes went over fairly well. Some old gal asked if "she" played guitar, referring to an Elvis tune. I wasn't sure if she was kidding or really didn't know who Elvis was. I made a couple of false starts and other mistakes, maybe out of nervousness, maybe from lack of time to practice recently, but I think it went over well and I'll do it again if they'll have me back. Although I thought I could do Jim Croce stuff in my sleep, it's really hard to do fairly complicated fingerstyle songs and sing at the same time. I can't imagine the work involved for some of you who can do 3 hours of solo performances. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Yes, Rick, and it also occurred to me (too late) to practice with the same guitar you gig with. I have been practicing with the 97 Collector alot lately, because it was my newest, but the battery went dead and I didn't trust the touch sensitive preamp, so I decided to go with the 2078 LE. Going from a 12 fretter to a 14 was part of my problem. I think the LAV Koa would have been a better choice. It's my only 12 fretter with a cutaway, which allows me to play the one song up at the 12th fret that I was thinking about playing.
The other request if there is a next time is to play some "happy" songs. I didn't realize until that request that I had played several sad ballads at the end. Living in a nursing home has to be depressing enough without some guy playing a bunch of tear jerkers. |

Location: Spain | Oops scratch that, now it works! Great, good playing man, soooo much better than I can play haha I'm the original chord basher! And for the life of me, since I started learning, timing has just completely evaded me.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Martinez, I can relate to the timing problem. I had way more songs than I needed for one hour last night, but must have burned through them so fast that I almost ran out of material. Nervous energy, I guess.
