Congrats and enjoy her!!
I was playing only "Ovations" for a long time, I don't like the "plastic"-look of the Adamii. I've bought my first Adamas last year in September (thanx Arthur!!!), it was a 1681-7.... and now I've four of them (thanx Willa, Al and Nick). This 1681-7, I've sold to Jürgen Strupperich, also a member here, and I miss her so....

Thansk guys, ok so there are no "shims" under the saddle. Next step to lower it? :(

Is the neck severely bowed? Fret at 1st and 14th and check height at 7. Should have tiny relief if fretted as noted... Could just require tensioning?

Just done that mate, yes it's as you say, if I fret at 1st there's just a tiny height at 7th...is that what you mean?

Cheers

Thanks!

Ok, so when I do these string checks, i.e frettingn at 1st and 13th etc, it touches all the way fown the fretboard. But my Takamine does that too, and that plays like butter...(although the action on that is VERY low)...but that's how I want my new baby!!!!

I looked for those shims but it appears they have been removed already...(when you lift the saddle out, it all comes together right? the actual white bit doesn't come out right?)

I had a little look at truss rod, but couldn't even move it, and definitely don't want to force that!!!!
Not sure what to do now :-((

I'm not sure if I'm understanding, but under the saddle should be shims, then wood. If you see white in the slot where you took the saddle out, that's the shim(s).

Believing you don't have shims, get a measuring device that measures at least to the 32nd's. What i do is measure the middle of the low E string and the middle of the high e-string. You're whole goal is to keep your saddle even throughout your filing. Take the file to the bottom of the saddle maybe a few "strokes" at a time, measure, file some more if you have to, etc(making sure you are being precisely level,as can be, re-measure the high and low e-string). On all of my Ovations so far, i've been at just below 4/32nd's on my low E and approx 2/32nd's on my high E(again, that's me). You'd rather do your your "shaving" and/or action height at the bridge than at the the nut. Obviously all depends on your neck. But it seems consistent enough to assume that most would be described as i have...

If you try and have a question, and want to pause, lemme know...

Ha, sorry, it's going to a luthier, as I don't want to try messing with it.

I've played around with all my other guitars no problem, but they weren't this one :-)

Congrats Martinez.
My 1868's were set-up with less than 1/8 inch at 12th fret with light gauge 12-53 strings.
If neck is straight, remove one or two shims under the saddle, it will fix it.
