With regard to Ovation solid bodies, is this model as desirable as others? What others are considered better, if any?

My favs were (in order) the UK2, Viper3, Deacon, Viper, Breadwinner and Preacher although the UK2 and Viper3 could easily swap places based on the style of music. |

I like the Preacher Body but it goes better with Viper pups and a Deacon or Viper neck.
Maybe some heavy strings and a TV Jones Power Tronic... |

Not likely.. That's more like Preacher price range. A Preacher Deluxe should be 800+. $400+ is a bargain... if it's in good shape, jump on it. |

Location: Virginia | New to the site. Have a 1979 black preacher deluxe in excellent conditon. Bought it new in '79 and played for about two years. Took excellent care of it; shows very little wear. Have no idea what its worth.

Probably explains why I liked the Preacher 12 equally as well as the Deacon 12. |

I bought my Preacher Deluxe about 6 months ago for $650usd. Black and pretty much mint except for some marks on the pg.
I thought a very good buy
As Moody says, same sound as my Deacon6

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | The standard Preacher, without pre-amp, doesn't do anything for me. For the longest time I stayed away from the Preacher Deluxe and Deacons because of those pickups, but with a pre-amp on them, they are
great.
I have a Preacher with the Viper pickups, and it's fantastic. |

Location: enid, ok | I agree with those of you that stated w/o pre-amp, they're nowhere near as good. The neck on my LTD was a big plus. And I have no time for single coils-just not my thing. Stephant28, you are retarded. Should have been a pre-amp in the UK II. Deacon/Breadwinner and Deluxe Preacher far outclass the others. Odd as it may seem, their respective values coincide exactly with my tastes. Coincidence? Not to me... |
