It is an FRG so it has a 5 year warranty. great guitar, if you missed the ute craze then this is the next best thing and in some ways better December 28, 2005 New Adamas Premier - Studio Quality Acoustics On Stage Ovation’s new Adamas Premier blends classic and new technology for a unique blend of features. An ultra-light, woven carbon fiber composite top supported by the traditional Adamas “suspend ring”, provides an extremely thin and responsive soundboard. The Premier (1680-NWT) is also equipped with Ovation’s new VIP (Virtual Image Processing) preamp, which reproduces stunning, studio-quality acoustics. Sound like a pro on the stage or at home with superior acoustic/electric performance, courtesy of the Adamas Premier. Retail: $3,999.00 interested? e mail me at alpep@lostartvintage.com

Besides the normal selling points, what's the extra $$$ buy ya? Day-um, so much to learn soooo little time... Besides, the Adamas line is very confusing to me...

(Of course, the demand may have increased because everyone knew they'd have one of a hundred.) So somebody figures that we'll make a guitar just like the Ute, make a few changes, put in some fancier electronics and sell it as a production model. If I didn't have a Ute, I'd get one of these. I can't see that any of the changes would effect the sound, so you'll get a great finger style neck with booming bass and crisp highs. You need one.

I passed him on number of posts, but I don't think that I'll ever catch him on number of words. His posts are also much more profound. Just what you'd expect from a guy that wears a grass skirt and cocoanut bra. Unlike TJ, I buy guitars and keep them. Once I put up a wall hanger for it, it stays in my possession. The only reason I don't NEED a Premier is that I have the Ute. The differences aren't enough to have 2 of them. Now if it came in red, that might be a different story.

I haven't been able to compare to a U681T, but I played one in a music shop next to their top of the line Martins & Guilds, and it blew all of them away. Strum, pick, or just hold it and look good! Al, you're evil...the temptation...

Unlike TJ, I buy guitars and keep them. I, as you, tend to keep what I have. But as time, my 'O'ducation learning curve and advice from the OFC 'hive' evolves, I now have at least eight gits on my sell list (BTW, only my three Celebs from the 'O' family). Now I just need to take/make the time to thin the herd and finance my OGAS! Before I $pend the money for an Adamas, I must feed from the 'OFC tree of knowledge'. Thus far every recommendation given here that I've followed have been dead on. You input is appreciated and has nudged me a bit closer to the edge of the 'A'byss.

I find that I love the Adamas sound over the Ovation sound, even though their are woodtops that are outstanding. It really is a matter of YOUR taste in sound and the $$$ available for new (used) purchases. My suggestion is to play a few different A's and O's (come to the Southern Jam II, there will be plenty of both) and go with what appeals to you. Either way, you can't go wrong!

Then I checked the calendar and that's the week/weekend we take the whole family to Disney for our annual outing! (come to the Southern Jam II, there will be plenty of both) I even checked the map, time, distance (<10 hrs). I have a nephew in Columbia that I could visit also. After the Amelia reports I really regretted not being able to make it. Was hopin' to get to the SJII. D-rats! Thanx for your input and invite!

I love the wood tops for their classic looks and sound, but there is something about the Adamas that is incredible on a whole other level. I do have to say I like those with the ebony fb's over the traditional impregnated walnut. I've played a couple of mid-90's A2's, a 70's A1, and both the 1680 and 2080, and I actually liked the 1680 over all the others. The 1881 would be my first choice for an all around stage guitar, but the 1680 IMO was the nicest playing and best acoustic sounding.

Great guitar but my general impression was less than a U681T but about $1,000 more. In all fairness...IMHO the U681T is a unique guitar that was offered below what it was worth. It would be hard for any non-textured top to match the Ute.

I haven't been able to A/B them, not having played a Ute, but I was very impressed with the 1680 on its own. The epi's on the 1680 are solid walnut instead of the multi-wood they normally use. Some here (aka Dave ;) ) absolutely hate them, but I actually like the look.

The question is - if you HAD both the U681T and the 1680, which one would you sell...for me, I would keep the U681T. There were several thoughts when I made my comment: 1. The U681T is a textured top and I have yet to find a non-textured top Adamas (CVT or SMT) that can compare with a textured top. For one, a different sound. 2. There was (and is) a big difference in the price between what the U681T's were sold at versus a new 1680. Since the U681T is no longer available new, I am a big advocate of the 1680...as usual, far more guitar for the dollars than what you could get elsewhere.
