Location: North Carolina | Yeah, I know, It's supposed to be the holy grail of guitardom, to be in command of a screaming Les Paul while women reach out for your body. Gotta tell ya, been there, done that; always envied the bass player while I was doing it. Got to be the bass player after a while, and I'd do it again tomorrow. But not the lead guitar thing. Too much responsibility.
But nothing compares to being a solo artist, just you, guitar and a mic. And four hours. I'll do that until I just can't do it anymore. |

Here's clip from a local player that I know. Bad sound and all that but it's a good example of what you have to do to make a living. He hates playing these songs and has to be tanked most of the time to get up for it.
I don't envy him playing in dives night after night. He owned a bar for awhile in the town where I'm from - bought that Tak and a Mexican Strat both off the wall in a hock shop - later bought a reissue Tele which he said would do him for the rest of his life..lol

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I'm NOT that GUY! :) But YOU guys don't know what it's like from the other side. Try getting into a band and being taken seriously if you're a woman. All I ever wanted to do was play my guitar, and all my "band-mates" ever wanted to do was get into my...stuff. Same with the audience. And believe me, I'm NOT that good looking. It seems that if you're a female working in a mostly male-dominated field, guys are fascinated, and want a piece of...the action.
But of course, now that I play banjo, all they want is for me to go home. :D |

| I have to brag. Although it did not last a terribly long time; I did have my days with the band chicks. But that's long gone!
For me now, and for some time now, it has been completely about playing the music I love, not the money (there is none) not the stage, or the crowd (I never cared so much for it anyway) and certainly not the chicks. I am too old a fat and did I say old and fat and completely out of date to attract young women with music. I have to say though, I have had a few very beautiful older women flirt a little when I've pulled off a Zeppelin Tune well and believe it or not Dave Mathews. ? Go figure.
As for lead...after getting Matts book for reference and getting some free work from a friend I am actually becoming more comfortable with it. It does let you be very expressive, time seems to stand still for me when I try and crank out a tasty lead scale.
I can see how it is "Musically Addicting" to get better and better at it. |

Of course, I'm in a red fat suit with a long white beard, and the chicks are really young, like, four years old. Still, a moment is a moment. |
