Next up, the music room closet:

Four Ovation Freq-Lite's in their original boxes.

Two have the original pink bulbs, one has blue lights and other is empty. All have the control units but I've only tested three units successfully, the other looks like it was opened up at some point and isn't working.

These plug into the amp and change intensity based on the strength of the note played. More info on Ovation Tribute here:

I should also mention, these units can be plugged directly into the wall like a regular lamp to shine at the stage or whatever. Standard base and use any color bulb up to 75 watts...all four light units do work.

OMG, is this perfect for the bandroom or what? Gotta give this some serious consideration. My son thinks I need foggers and some pyro, but this would be cool. Then again, I'd have to remove something.

Brad, does your band room have a dropped ceiling? Maybe you can mount them like cans.

It is lath and plaster, and I already have some spot light cans up there, plus all other exposed ceiling is covered with flush mounted banners. I'm also wondering exactly how these lights plug into an amp. The cords look like they are 1/4" on one end and an RCA jack on the other. Maybe Tim can explain how the set up works.

Shucks. Now we'll never know how they're supposed to be "connected" to an amp.

The light unit plugs into the control unit. The rca out of the control unit plugs by 1/4" into the amp output. The control unit 110 plugs into the wall. The system could also be plugged into the speaker rca out of a record player or stereo system. The other choice was to plug the light unit 110 directly into the wall for full time stage lighting.

They are heading back to Mother :)

O.k., an aux 1/4" line out is required on the amp. It doesn't say whether it needs to be line level or output level. Interesting. An aux output was probably not a typical feature found on many amps back in those days. Maybe it was a feature on the Ovation amps. I can't imagine alternatively patching it directly into the speaker connections as suggested in the instructions. Its good that they're going back to Mother. I'll bet there aren't many still in existence.

These handled the SPEAKER out. They is even a warning to keep it less than 150 watts power. I had a kit that was similar.
