Location: Denver, PA USA | Well the question of to remove shims or not has been answered for me. I removed my strings to remove a shim or two and found that there is not a single shim in my 1777LX. So I guess I am stuck with the action I have. I was so hoping to get a bteer action. My Ultra cheapy from the 80's has better action than my Legend. That just doesn't seem right.

I can see your frustration and I don't want to sound condescending but it may be time to take it to a Pro to assess the tension and action. That just doesn't seem right. A return to CT might be required.
When measuring from the 12th fret to the base of either E string what does it measure?
Next assess the "bow" using the steps in the manual. |

Believe me it isn't horrable at all. But I know it can be better. I can play it fine the way it is. But would like it just a little lower.

Location: SoCal | If you bought it new, it's under warranty. Also, new LX's, from what I've learned on the board, usually come with the factory setup, which means there are 2 shims under the saddle, one thin and one thick. If they aren't there, then I wonder if somebody at the store, where you bougtht it, messed with it. |

Location: NJ | Another "solution" would be to have the saddle-slot routed a BIT deeper . . . BUT . . . you'd REALLY have t'do your research, and find an extremely competent luthier to do this for you (as opposed to "Danny Dremel") . . . |

Location: Omaha | Have you adjusted the truss rod (and are you comfortable doing so)? Even if it looks straight, you might have some room to tighten the rod a little more - a slight adjustment can make a huge improvement in playability...especially if, as you say, it's not THAT bad right now. It's worth a try...and if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, follow the above advice; take it back to the dealer and have them do a set up. |

I have done this on other guitars I have owned but to me I checked as per the owners manual and it is right in line with what they say. Maybe I will give it a tweak and see what happens. Can always go back the other way.

Let the dealer/factory put it right or replace it.
It's a new guitar,you've just shelled out the cash, you shouldn't have to put your hand in your pocket again.
...I too would be interested in what the action measures at the 12th fret. |

Location: Denver, PA USA | I just adjusted the truss rod last night. I just played her some and looked at it. It is better, but still not where I would like it. Kaman told me to take it to a dealer. But I am going to leave it alone for now and just play her. As I said, it is better. I know I can't make another adjustment. I would have problems.
