Joined: December 2005 Posts: 1 Location: Germany | I own a 1982 Custom Balladeer 1612L (lefty) and would like to use it on stage for song intros then back off to my electric guitar. There used to be a stand up "stand" for playing the Ovation that I think was called the "Adamas stand". Designed way back when by Alex Lifeson of "RUSH". Does anybody know if something like that stand is still available on the market (new or used)? Or possible another idea to mount the Ovation without drilling a hole in it and mounting it on a mike stand base. All input would be great. Thanks, Bob

The on I remember most the guy plays mandolin both rythym and solos, then will throw the mandolin behind his back and begin picking a solo on his Martin, then just as quick transition back to his mandolin. The Martin is sitting there suspended in space. I checked it out and it looked new, not old, but I cannot remember the make or model. Sorry.

They list 'em for acoustic or electric guitars, but I seem to remember when we were investigating this a couple years ago that there's also a "roundback" designation as well (not sure if lefty/righty enters into it, either). My Advice: If Al's got one . . . Grab It. (ShutUpWitko!)

I bet if you bought a cymbal stand then got a good look at one of these, it would be a simple matter to have some one weld it up for you. But...then again....a bit of cash buys some simplicity too.

Joined: September 2005 Posts: 3618 Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) I just bought one of the Hercules 3-guiter drop-in stands, and it's the best one I've seen yet for Ovations. The only downside is it's a little tight for the wider classical neck. Aside from that, I can load this up with any sized guitar combinations and it never tips, and holds the instruments quickly and securely. The headstocks don't touch either like they do with other stands.
