Location: North Idaho | My wife has suggested that I get my guitar cases out of her way. I've been given one wall to construct a buildin cabinet. I'm thinking of setting in one row of cases uprigtht, and if possible, a second row above them upside down to conserve space. Any ideas? |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Storing cases is ALWAYS a real big problem. A double row closet is a good idea so you can stand them on end and can then get one out at a time rather than move the whole pile for the one on the bottom. |

I'm pretty luck in that I've got a long hallway (which is also the laundry/utility room) that connects my music room to the garage. There a goodly size closet in there that I covered the walls with carpet to protect the cases (& minimize noise when coming home at 3a.m.). I can fit about 8 cases standing upright. Works out well since after restringing/tuning in the music room, I can grab the cases in the hallway and load out from the garage . . .
After witnessing Al's method, I will NEVER play against him in "Jenga" . . . especially for money :D |

Location: Avondale, AZ | Wow and I wanted a third guitar. My two cases slide smoothly under the bed. The most guitars I owned at one time was 4. I've had 9 different ones in my life. My Viper is the only one I will never part with. If hadn't mentioned guitars, you might have thought I was talking about women. |

Location: Tennessee | I have a spot in my music room where I can stack most of my cases ... but as W-2 says, it's a PITA to get one of the lower cases out when you need it. Fortunately, most of my guitars are hanging on the walls so I don't have to go after the cases very often. You can see them in the picture below:
The REAL problem is that acoustic Ovation cases do not lend themselves to stacking, so they end up standing on end in front of the other cases. All in all, this works fairly well for me as I can get about 20 cases in a fairly small area. |

Location: Hicksville, NY | I simply use the GORM shelving unit from IKEA. Very inexpensive, self-installation is a breeze, and it's made from untreated solid wood. Unlike others where people often end up purchasing the entire set - with the gorm - you just pay for the components that you need. I like it for its flexibility where you can add more components if you need more shelf space, or vice versa. You can either fill the entire wall or just small portion of it, and it's just alright.
I use W30 3/8 x D20 1/8 size shelves, and the rest of the components are pretty much the same across. I have mine against the wall in the guest bedroom, and the lower shelf is adjusted to the guitar cases' height -- that's where they stand upright, facing sideways. The upper shelves make plenty of room for the accessories, tools and spare parts.
Just my .02 cents ... it has worked in my favor, so I thought I'd share it. Who knows ... it might work for you too. ;) |

The new house has a storage room off the first floor music room that should hold 50-60 in double stacked rows so that any single one is accessable. The rest will have to go in the elevator up to the third floor attic storage. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Tim, bring them down. I'll store them for you. We built the house with a "Mormon room", even though we aren't Mormon, because our last house had a lot of storage. We used it for girl scout stuff until the girls grew up. Now it has 6 or so cases and plenty of additional room.
I have room for a few more guitars, too, if you'd like to store those. |

Actually that's my son Quinn. The Celebrity is a mighty fine starter guitar. Kinda fun to shred on it now and again. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Or Tim could send them to U of I, which is a real bargain, and build a bigger house with the savings. I did both, one to U of I and one to private school. It freed up lots of storage and a couple more spots in the garage, but there's no money to buy anything to put in the space. |
