I thought that the value of USO's would go-up when they moved manufacture to Korea. It did in a way. Suddenly there weren't as many USO's on eBay. People who own the Ovations will just keep them. (I know that I will be keeping mine) So it may cost more for you to pry them from their hands. And you may be able to take your old Ovation onto the Antiques Roadshow.

Old Teiscos and the like are considered collector's items now and go for much more than they did new, or were ever (even now) worth. Imagine what a GOOD guitar that is no longer made will go for in another twenty to fifty years. Of course most of us will be dead by then, but our children and grandchildren will make out like bandits.

When you could pick up an old DB for $300, you might get $600 in a few years. A 100% return (or 50% depending on how YOU factor it). A $4000 Adamas probably won't go to $8000 anytime soon....

More difficult to predict demand - those who know and care about Os may have reduced GAS as there are fewer opportunities dangled in front of their noses, while the younger generation is growing up with Asia product and has little awareness of US products, while being exposed to aggressive marketing from other companies. So chances are good that there will be substantial further devaluation of US Ovations and great deals to be had in a few years (e.g. Adamas < 1K). Edited by d'ovation 2014-04-23 10:28 AM

However, I do see a decent increase in value coming. And, I agree that some of us will hold onto our guitars or at least ask for a decent price. Ovation and Adamas, unlike wood boxes are somewhat indestructible, at least the back and sides. I have O's from 1968 (46 years) and they will probably be in great shape in another 46 years. As to parts, may depend on who buys the inventory of parts and is tasked to provide warranty work. Just glad I have some new 2-knob and stacked knob pre-amps. As an aside, wonder how they will handle the distribution of Takamine.

Joined: February 2006 Posts: 140 | I have had a few models over the years, starting with my first, a 1975 White Balladeer. My current one is a 1993 Elite shallowbowl. I was hoping that Ovation would still be around. I had plans on having a custom colored Al Dimeola in white, since I long ago sold my white balladeer.

Thank you Ovation USA for your beautiful work on bringing these guitars to life for us all to enjoy. You are very much appreciated!! God bless.
