Please help me sort out some confusion ...

Specs for the Adamas 1687 reissue in multiple places says 13 pieces wood epaulets. But look at this catalog on Jerome's site. It clearly shows the 1687 reissue with 8-9 pieces epaulets. I own THREE of these guitars and all of them have exactly the same epaulets as shown in the pictures.

http://www.ovationtribute.com/Catalogues/2005_30Th_Anniversary_Adam...

So one would assume the spec sheet is wrong. BUT, also look on Jerome's site at owners photos of 1687 reissue and there are definitely 2-3 of them posted that indeed have 13 pieces epaulets!!!

http://www.ovationtribute.com/Adamas_Models/Adamas_I/1687-8_Adamas_...

Does anybody know anything about this? I am trying to sell one of my guitars and buyer is confused by this and so am I !!!

Thanks

That's odd. Not that the pictures are wrong, but that your guitars are wrong too.

I know the pictures are wrong on the reissue ads for at least the Adamas II (they show a model with eppies on one side only) but that doesn't explain why yours only have 9 though.

The website is notorious for being incorrect. Print ads, though, should be pretty accurate.

Have any of the guitars been back to Mother for work and perhaps had the epis replaced? My daughter's Ute came back with the latest epis, not the original ones.

<p>I'd say theres's a difference between the "original 30th Anniversary"-Reissues, that we all thought of being the last ones ever been built, strictly limited, and the reissues that have been affordable all the time after. My 1681-5, for example, was one of those anniversary reissues and has the bass epaulet only, like it is shown on the ad. Best regards, Kurt</p>

Kurt, what does your label say? Is there anything about anniversary or reissue written? Mine has 2 eppies and only says 1581

BTW, I assume you meant 1581 and not 1681

I guess you DIDN'T mean 1581. The ad says 1681...

But the 1681 isn't a cutaway... and the 1581 is. Now i'm totally confused.

Sorry for hijacking the thread Dave

That would make sense if it were not for the brochures that came out in 2005. The brochure shows exactly the guitar with my style epaulets. That is the most confusing part.

Yep, you're right, Dave. This is confusing. Then I have no solution left.

Damon, yep, you're right as well, I'm no longer in the buyer's market, so I am confusing the references from time to time. I meant the 1581 for sure.

This one.

 Best regards,

Kurt

Mark, the 1187 models have 13 piece epaulets.

Kurt, what does your label say exactly? Does it just say 1581? No -5? No mention of reissue?

I find it odd that there would be 2 versions of a reissue.

No, no mentioning of reissue, Label says 1581, printed, not handwritten, only. But it surely was one of these so called limited ones, because I got it directly from the former german distributor, who ordered it especially for me. Along with the 1187 reissue. The UTE, which was one of the Anniversarys as well, I got later.

Best regards,
Kurt

Funny thing about my 1581 - something, that really annoyed me, when I got it: It has the narrow neck stripes of the LX models, not the thicker ones that were known for the older necks.

So in summary...

they call them a 1681 in the print ad which is a non-cutaway model, but show a cutaway 1581
we both have the same info on the label, just 1581 nothing else
we both have skinny skunk stripes on the neck.
I have 2 eppies, you have 1

Apparently 'reissue' is a very loose term.

"Tribute" might have been a better term.
