How much do the good used Ovation parlor guitars usually go for?

Someone on NY Craigs List has been trying to move one at $850 for a while now. Not an unreasonable price at all IMO.

I think I saw that one. Does it have the natural finish? I really like that sunburst one.

Yep. It's a 97 Collector's. The other parlor is tough to find, but I've seen a few move here in the last couple of years.

Vince the 97C-7N and 97C-7W are the collector's parlors and only came in natural.

The sunburst was offered on the 5741 Parlor.

Someone here scored a nice parlor off Fleabay for $250, but that was an anomaly.

I agree with Patch - $700 give or take (more give than take) would be entirely reasonable for a decent 97C.

Be aware that the case for the parlor bowls is a special case and the absence/presence of a case would in my mind greatly impact the price I would pay.

I have a 5741 sunburst, and let me say it is the prettiest guitar I have ever seen. The 5741 is a 14 fretter, and mine came with an aftermarket, but very well padded gig bag.

No doubt!

It's a phenomenal case. I wish all Ovations came with one like it to be honest.

I loved the burst one I sold to Allison. The only drawback (to me) was it wasn't a slot head like the 97 is.

Wonder why Ovation chose only this one model to provide a decent case. Can a nice case really cost them THAT much more than the cheapo plastic one? At least on the higher end guitars it would be a very nice touch.

I have a CC2474 Bass that also has a TKL case (same manufacturer as used for the parlors).

It does make one wonder why a Celebrity would come in such a great case and high end models do not.

I saw a 1997 Collectors at Rockin Robin's in Houston a couple weeks ago tagged at $1400. It looked to be in excellant condition. I'm sure they would let it go for less.

Wow! For a little bit more than that I could probably have one built. Perhaps that will be the next target on the horizon, that is unless a nice 1547 sunburst comes up first. I just happened to stop by a litle music store in town the other day, and they had a Chinese Takamine parlor there. It actually played and sounded quite nice, although the action was a little high. That kinda' brought on a little parlor fever. I wish Ovation would make one with a cutaway. I would think they would sell like hotcakes ... It would make a superb travel guitar. OK ... Here's my custom order dream ...
Cutaway 1 3/4" nut slothead with sunburst, abalone purfling and inlaid rosette, and the cool Custom Legend carved bridge and TR cover.(maybe the CL style fret markers too) I'd call it the CL Parlor. ... AL?

This one might be worth making an offer on and slapping back into shape at the factory.

Wide necks are hard to come by.

That one WOULD be nice as a project starter, depending on what he would take for it.

I believe I heard it takes about $75,000 to make up a new mold for a bowl. That's why you won't get a cutaway Parlor. No lefty contour bowls yet, either. I guess for all the demand they have for leftys, folks are ok with the existing left-handed bowls. Probably if the day comes where the economy rebounds AND Ovations fall back into favor, they'll make a contour lefty.

I'm working on a rebuilding project now, so if that goes well I may have to search out a parlor like that as well. Of all the Ovations I've owned, I probably miss my 97C the most.

And yes, that case is incredible. The only "stock" guitars I see around in anything like that right now are some of the higher-end import Breedloves. A new Adamas or more spendy Legend/Elite should always come with a case like that.

Don't tell the Japanese....

Looks like they had a Parlor body cutaway. Anyone ever seen one?
