Just for kicks and giggles I thought I'd play around with this thing. A friend was getting rid of it cheap. Think it has the wrong strings though. We'll fix that tomorrow.

"Now he's really lost it!!! "

Actually He has found it!
Due to long periods of drizzle, drab and depression from living West of the Cascades and North of the Columbia River there is a natural reaction of the Primal Cortex to take over and emit specialized Dopamine-like enzymes that lead to the phenomena of Aggressive Sunlight Induced Defensive Tropical/Recreation Icon and Paraphernalia syndrome.

Also known as: A.S.I.D.T.R.I.P. or simply “Tripp’in”.
It is the Brain’s natural defense to overcome or avert depression due to having a life that is either overwhelming or lacks stimulation.

We at the OFC have several examples.

Paul Moody – Left the Corporate, Ladder-climbing 120 hour plus work week for the thrill and excitement of wondering where the paycheck will come from next and wearing the Tropical wardrobe from deceased neighbors. To him we owe the OFC uniform that clearly shows the world “You’re not the Boss of me”! Paul has been “tripp’in” for years and seems to love it.

Dave Witko – Here is what happens when you deny the Primal Cortex for too long and the resulting overdose of chemical response throws you into a severe reaction mode:
A – You move to Arizona for Sun therapy.
B – You obsess with Palm Trees and Tropicana icons.
C – You proselytize Worldwide.

So wear your colors proudly and repeat after me:

“You’re not the Boss of me!”

Woody,

How many TRC's could you make from the Uke?

I keep getting job offers in Phoenix... hmmm...

Actually I got this thing cuz I thought it would be my "ticket" to finding a hot blond cornet player.

I'm poppin' "The Jerk" in tonight and learning my part.

Damon -
I just spent the last week in Hawaii and actually picked up an Oscar Schmidt Uke and played around with it. Decided not to try to bring one home, though...I mean, why buy a Washburn as a Hawaiian momento, when there are local boys still making them on the Islands?
That'll be fun, and Woody, yes, you're absoloutely right. Those of us growing moss over here West of the Cascades need a few "Tropical Recreation Icon & Paraphenalia" to keep sane.

these "local boy" ukuleles will cost ya' 20X the amount of an oscar schmidt though. but they usually sound 100X better too. (although local boys don't play ukuleles to attract hot blond cornet players, or hot blond hula dancers.)

I'll stick with the cheapo for starters. If it gets played, I'll probably get sucked into NEEDING a better one. If it doesn't get played, hell, it was a cheap experiment.

damon,
ukuleles are good fun. oscar schmidts are very playable and a good value. i highly recommend people that normally play guitar to get a tenor ukulele, rather than a soprano/standard, for the most enjoyment and fuller sound spectrum. but then again, tiny tim did well with his soprano....

Wow... finally an explaination for what ails me! With all the money I can save on therapy and pharmaceuticals (sorry Phil!) I can get back to buying guitars.

Thanks Woody.

It all seems to just fall together, don't it!

Why do you think us Cubicle Warriors have Aloha Fridays ?

Nice Uke Damon - Ill bring my Official Standing O at the OFC Tour Lesson Uke with me to Mile's so we can share tropic tones.

Sweet! Tropic tones at Miles', electrics and amps to 11. Should be interesting.

I went to NW guitars, and thankfully they only had one choice for Uke strings, so that's what I got. GHS Hawaiian Uke strings. They're black, and the guage they're supposed to be. Dunno what those other cheap things were that came with, but they were not right.
