Is this a Sweetwater exclusive? I'm interested in getting one and would love to play it first, but can only find them at Sweetwater. Are they a good buy for the $800 they're offering them at? Anyone have any sound samples of this guitar they could direct me to?

Looks like a 6778 with a contour instead of mid depth. Contour PROBABLY (don't know for sure) would sound a bit better than a mid depth.

That's about the best I can do. Those 2778 are pretty new models and the price drop is due to them relocating the manufacturing of the standard model to the orient. The last of the USA models have been reduced in price to match the new asian pricing. So bottom line is... IT'S A STEAL!

Thank you for the information. I'm still up in the air on one of these, but they sure do look nice.

I couldn't get this guitar off my mind at work today and decided to pull the trigger when I got home. This will make Ovation #2 in the stable, and will be the finer of the two by far. I look forward to its arrival. :)

You're going to love the playability and the workmanship on that thing for sure.

The guitar is on a truck and scheduled for Thursday delivery...looks like that will be a half day for me.

I read in another post that only the lower end Ovations are being moved to overseas production. Does that mean this one is a low end model? I was of the (more than likely mistaken) assumption that this was a mid-high level Ovation guitar.

And yes, it's black, and I know many don't like black guitars because it covers the wood, but black was all that was left of the US models when I decided to order. And hey, it can't hurt having a black guitar in the lineup.

Yep, I believe the Standard is the top of the bottom. It'll be going. I guess it's right at the cutoff. In my mind the next step up is the Elite LX. The LX will stay, the standard will go.

Doesn't make sense to me as they're so similar.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not yet familiar enough with Ovation to discern the models and their location in the lineup. Hopefully the guitar will be a keeper; I hate the letdown of a dud after the rush of new guitar excitement.

I won't be receiving the guitar. It was apparently damaged to where it is non-deliverable and has been returned to Sweetwater. Tracking puts it back in IN now. What a letdown.

Yes, I have a replacement coming. I'm getting the same model with a natural top (they had gotten one more in :) ) , and it is being overnighted...should be here before noon tomorrow. Here's a shot of it...

Look on the bright side. It's better this way than to receive it, open it up only to find substantial hidden damage and have to deal with it yourself.
My plea to all the shipping companys is, "If your gonna wreck it, wreck it good!"
However, it would be bad if it was a guitar you had owned for years and had become attached to.
