Location: Madison, Wisconsin | I got a nice settlement for the hail damage to my car so I'm finally in the market for a new O. Just wondering what the membership thinks. All around workhorse, day to day playing, in the music room as well as playing out. Suggestions? |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Fred, those are all great guitars but not some that I would neccessarily drag down to the local bar for a gig. Hate to get beer on my 1547 or FD14.....or have some drunk fall on my '87 collectors.
That's why I said to check out the Adamas line, built like a tank without the worry of the wood top. |

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | Why not the W597? Can be had for $800-1200 used and in great shape. I have a 1537, but as Stephen said, I was getting worried about bruising it. I am quite happy with the 597 and for the price it has been a great guitar. Like, bullet proof, great electronics and nice action.
Yeah, so I am still coveting a couple of others, but this will do nicely for now. |

An Adamas is a great guitar to carry around, play everywhere and don't worry too much about temperature or even beer (don't know where you play?). Try to get a 1581 RI. I got a W597 as well, but the textured top is a whole different league! Very full, loud with clear heights and a beautiful finish - everybody who said Charlie Kaman should have stayed only with helicopters changed his mind after listening and playing this guitar. One of the best allround guitars I have ever played. And it would be different to the Custom Legend you already have.
If you look for a wooden top - the 1651 RI is a very nice guitar, but hard to find in the US. What about a Glen Campbell RI? Very nice guitar as well.

Location: Madison, Wisconsin | Fixing the car is not an option. It doesn't warrent the repair. My "playing out" consists of church gigs, open mics and retirement homes with an ocassional camp fire. The Adamas soultion had never entered my mind but not a bad idea. I had been thinking more along the lines of a Legend, LX or Contour. I was really liking the idea of a lighter bowl. |

And the "flame" model would be great for the campfire. But maybe not so great for church. |

Location: Madison, Wisconsin | I play in a Lutheran Chruch...Not many flames there. I'll be spending the next few weekends traveling around to see what feels good. I like the sound of my legend but never really "bonded" with the color. After 30 years with the Martin, I'll probably be looking for a Legend or C/L with a natural finish. |
