It looks like yet another maker is answering the need for an acoustic that can sound like and play like an electric. Like the Taylor T5 , the new Parker P8E also has strong roots in it's acoustic design, but these guitars are really meant to be played plugged in. Instead of just slapping a piezo bridge on an electric, they're trying to get a more natural acoustic sound first. The new "trick" seems to be able to go from smooth, clean acoustic, to a fairly aggressive lead-electric sound with the twist of a knob, or to blend more than one voicing together. Watch the vieos, you'll see what I mean. There is a market here guys....

The T5 is intended to be a hybrid guitar that can produce convincing electric and acoustic sounds. The Parker is an acoustic guitar which blends magnetic and piezo pickups to produce an amplified acoustic sound. There are certain Parker Fly models which could be compared conceptualy to the T5, but the Parker acoustic guitars are not intended to be hybrids.

( www.cpthorntonguitars.com I think is the link) He builds neck though semihollow bodies. On this one he offers an acoustic p/u, along with the Fralin unbuckers. Oh yeah, it sounds sweet. I can personally attest to!!! He is starting to gain a following, but still has only made about 60 guitars. At $3k, they are not cheap. But outside of the 1187 reissue, this is the best $3+k I have ever spent on a musical instrument. And to me the viper ea -68 blurs the line of acoustic/electric anyway. just my $.002 peace mike

I have been running th Piezo side through the Acoustasonic Jr. and the Twin blade through a Fender 25R. On some blends it has a neat two guitars sound. The Piezo can be a bit quacky though. I will most likely change the twin blade for a mini P90.
